The second season of1923begins filming in Texas in July, and producers of the serieshave announced its first major new cast member.DexteralumJennifer Carpenteris joining the cast as U.S. Deputy Marshall Mamie Fossett, according to a report byDeadline.She will appear in multiple episodes of season two, alongside stars Harrison Ford and Helen Mirren, who play Jacob and Cara Dutton.
Carpenter’s Marshall Fossett is described in the report as a “highly capable U.S. Deputy Marshall who serves warrants and makes arrests with confidence ahead of her time.” As the start of production nears on the series, more new cast members are expected to be announced.

Jennifer Carpenter is best known for playing Officer Debra Morgan, the adoptive sister of serial killer Dexter Morgan (Michael C. Hall) in the hit Showtime seriesDexter. 1923also stars Brandon Sklenar (Westworld) as Spencer Dutton as well as Jerome Flynn (Game of Thrones), Brian Geraghty (The Hurt Locker), and James Bond actor Timothy Dalton. Isabel May, who starred in1883as Elsa Dutton, serves as the series' narrator. The first season of the series was amassive success for Paramount+upon its premiere in December 2022. It was renewed for a second season in February 2023, but a writer’s strike delayed the production start.
