28 Years Later, one of 2025’s most talked-about horror films, has received a digital release date. The Danny Boyle zombie flick was released in theaters on June 20, and it has already been announced for digital streaming.

According to When to Stream, the28 Years Laterwill be landing on digital and PVOD platforms on August 15, 2025. The filmis the third part in the franchise created by Boyle in the early 2000s. The first film, 2002’s28 Days Later, was a successful and innovative approach to the zombie subgenre. It was followed up by 2007’s28 Weeks Later, a less successful sequel that took another creative direction. However, Boyle and writer Alex Garland have now decided to return for not one, buttwo sequels shot back-to-back. The next installment,28 Years Later: The Bone Temple,will be released in theaters in January 2026.

Given how long it’s been, there are some obvious, albeit horrifying, realities regarding the rest of the world.

Starring Jodie Comer, Ralph Fiennes, Alfie Williams, and Aaron Taylor-Johnson,28 Years Laterfollows a group of survivors of the zombie apocalypse who have managed to form a community on a remote island. When they decide to explore the mainland, they come upon the vestiges of what was once our society. Per the Rotten Tomatoes synopsis of the film:

The critical reception was equally good, and today, it boasts a Certified Fresh label on Rotten Tomatoes. The critics' score sits at 88% (the highest in the franchise), while the audience score is at 63% by the time of writing.

When Is ‘28 Years Later’ Coming To Streaming?

Per the report by the site When to Stream, the Danny Boyle sequel will be landing on VOD platforms on June 18, 2025. That’s a little over a monthsince the film arrived in theaters. The site is not confirming a physical media release yet, but given the success and good reception, news about a 4K Blu-ray release should arrive soon.

We navigated a bit further and arrived at the digital and physical release insider site DVDs Release Dates, and they’re also reporting that28 Years Laterwill be released on digital platforms on July 29. This means that the horror film will be available on the services that usually offer these new releases, like Prime Video and iTunes. However, there is still no confirmation of a release on subscription-based platforms like Netflix, Peacock or Prime Video.
