Raising Dionpremiered as an original series on Netflix in 2019. It is based on the 2015 comic book and short film of the same name, and follows a woman named Nicole Warren (played by Alisha Wainwright) who is raising her son, Dion, by herself after her husband’s death. She soon learns that Dion possesses superpowers and struggles to keep it a secret.

He shares a lot of name similarities with the famous basketball player, but the ‘B’ in his name actually stands for Bakari, which means “promising” in Swahili.
