It will also be the second-biggest opening weekend of 2025,behind onlyCaptain America: Brave New World’s $88 million. ‘A Minecraft Movie’ Is an Unexpected Box Office Hit
Thecritical and audience reaction has been mixedforA Minecraft Movie, with the film scoring 48% on Rotten Tomatoes. However, Deadline reports that the Screen Engine/Comscore’s PostTrak service, which polled audiences on the film’s opening night, suggests audiences were pleased with the film. 65% of kids under the age of 12 who were polled gave the film five stars, with 67% of the parents who saw it saying they would recommend it, giving the movie four and a half stars. This certainly bodes well forA Minecraft Movie, which is the must-see event family film of the spring, and more bad news for Disney’sSnow White, which failed to capture the spring break audience.
A Minecraft Movie’s box office performance is certainly good news for Warner Bros., following the back-to-back disappointments ofMickey 17andThe Alto Knights. The studio’s fortunes are certainly looking up as Ryan Coogler’s vampire filmSinnersis set to be released on Easter weekend and has received glowing reviews from critics. Meanwhile,Supermanis one of the most anticipated films of 2025, and reportedly, much of the studio’s future rests on the shoulders of the DC film. Hopefully,A Minecraft Movie’s box office can ease the burden.
