We’ve got a little update onA Quiet Place 2from Brian Tyree Henry, who recently joined the cast of the highly-anticipated sequel. Henry is an actor who is very much having himself a moment. He’s been on a meteoric rise over the past couple of years, with roles in movies likeWidows,If Beale Street Could TalkandSpider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse. He’s also set to appear inJoker,Godzilla vs. Kongand a slew of other projects. He’s someone seemingly everyone wants to work with, and that includes John Krasinski, who is stepping behind the camera again for the follow-up to last year’s breakout hit. And it sounds like Krasinski is going to answer some questions many moviegoers likely had about A Quiet Place.

Brian Tyree Henryis currently promoting theChild’s Playremake, which hits theaters next weekend. During a recent interview, he was asked aboutA Quiet Place 2. Obviously, he couldn’t say much. He did, however, indicate that the story will reveal some of how the world came to be such a mess in this universe. Here’s what he had to say about it.

A Quiet Place 2

“I think that we’re also going to get a few answers to the origin of where and how this whole thing happened. I think that people want to know that. But I think you’re just going to see another side of it…more of humanity that survived this thing in this next story.”

The actor also revealed that the story will involve theAbbott familyfrom the first movie “finding out that they’re not the only ones.” A Quiet Place did a lot of sly worldbuilding, but it didn’t spend a lot of time on exposition. It told viewers exactly what they needed to know. Monsters have taken over the planet and they have killed the vast majority of people. Things are bad. But we have no idea where they came from exactly or how things came to be so bad. It sounds like the sequel will, at least in part, dive into how that all happened.

What we know for sure is thatCillian Murphy(Batman Begins,Inception) has also joined the cast. Emily Blunt, Millicent Simmonds and Noah Jupe are also reprising their roles from the previous movie. John Krasinski, for obvious reasons, won’t be stepping in front of the camera (unless he decided to include flashbacks or something of the like). Instead, he’s on board as the writer/director. Krasinski contributed to the screenplay for the first movie after being hired to direct. Scott Beck and Bryan Woods penned the initial draft. It’s unclear if they’re involved at all in the sequel and, if they are, to what degree.

A Quiet Place proved to be a massive hit, earning widespread critical praise on its way to $340 million at the globalbox office. Considering its relatively small $17 million production budget, that it’s no surprise Paramount was so eager to get a sequel going.A Quiet Place 2is currently set to arrive in theaters on July 23, 2025.
