Earliertoday, we learned that 20th Century Fox has officially titledRidley Scott’sPrometheussequelAlien: Covenant. Along with that comes theofficial title treatment, the release date and the synopsis. These new story details hints that one character may not be returning from the original prequel.
Ridley Scott’sAlien: Covenantwill directly connect with theAlienfranchise, which he launched back in 1979. The first official synopsis does not offer too many new plot details. But it does echo statements the director has made in the past about where this film series is headed. It will be a trilogy. And it will be in theaters on June 20, 2025, arriving just in time for the Halloween festivities. Here is the official synopsis from 20th Century Fox.

“Bound for a remote planet on the far side of the galaxy, the crew of the colony ship Covenant discovers what they think is an uncharted paradise. But it actually turns out to be a dark, dangerous world. And the sole inhabitant is the “synthetic” David (Michael Fassbender), survivor of the doomedPrometheus expedition.”
As you’re able to see, there is no mention ofNoomi Rapace’s Elizabeth Shaw, who was last seen carrying the severed head of android David. At this time,Michael Fassbenderis the only confirmed cast member. The movie is said to not only directly connect to theAlienfranchise, but it is said to connect toSigourney Weaver’s iconicRipleycharacter. Some believed we would either see her conceived in the movie, or may even witness her birth.

Ridley Scotthad stated in the past that Alien: Covenant would be a direct sequel toPrometheus, with Elizabeth Shaw and David’s journey continuing. But that no longer seems to be the case. It isn’t known how much time has passed between the first and second movie, but it seems that it is considerable. Especially if David has had time to create his own nightmare world. This first official synopsis also hints that David may be responsible for creating the Xenomorphs that we know and love from the original series. In earlier interviews,Ridley Scotthas promises that the creators will be revealed. While we await more info, check out the official title treatment which reveals the logo for Alien: Covenant.
