Season 2 ofAm I Being Unreasonablewastes no time in pulling us in and keeping us invested in its frenzied storyline. And just when you think this exceptional and offbeat comedy paints itself into a creative corner with seemingly no way out, the show surprises you with yet another sharp pivot. We’ve counted at least three game-changing moments this season, all of which alter our perspective on what’s really been going on in this wickedly fun and inventive dark comedy from the brilliant co-writers and co-stars,Daisy May Cooper and Selin Hizli.

After a three-year absence from screens, this round picks up right where Season 1 left off — with Nic (Cooper) in mid-panic attack at Alex’s funeral. Remember Alex (David Fynn), the man Nic was having an affair with? Her husband’s brother? He’s the guy whose scarf got caught in the doors of a train and wound up dying. Now, we’re to believe it wasn’t an accident and that Nic could, in fact, be a murderer. All this is provided via flashback, but that leaked video at Alex’s funeral revealing that he and Nic were having an affair quickly makes Nic the talk of the town.

That premise fuels the hysteria in Season 2 as Nic frets that she’s raised her son Ollie (Lenny Rush) to follow in her questionable footsteps. She’s also been booted out of home for “brotherly love” — basically loving the wrong brother — and winds up sharing a trailer with Jen (Selin Hizli), her trustworthy (but maybe not-so trustworthy) best friend. Toss a gaggle of hallucinations into the mix, and Nic is in full freak-out mode in this robust, laugh-out-loud-funny new season.

She Really Is Being Unreasonable

Am I Being Unreasonable?

Am I Being Unreasonable? (2022) is a British dark comedy series that follows the life of a woman trapped in an unhappy marriage while struggling to cope with a tragic past event. The show explores themes of friendship, grief, and the complexities of suburban life, intertwining humor with poignant moments. It stars Daisy May Cooper and is noted for its engaging narrative and well-developed characters.

Sure, it’s unnerving, but it’s also fascinating to watch Daisy May Cooper unravel before your very eyes. With Nic, this fine performer has given us a character we can root for and occasionally relate to. Who hasn’t had to make sharp pivots and rebuild their lives at some point?Am I Being Unreasonablemay feature far too many extremes to seem plausible, but it’s a testament to Cooper’s wit and acting that these sometimes far-fetched storylines really do feel believable.

Best British TV Shows of All Time

British television has taken off ever since streaming has flattened out TV nationality, so check out some of the best British series ever made.

As the themes of guilt, paranoia, and loyalty play out in Season 2, which leans nicely into becoming a comedy thriller, Nic’s nervous breakdown is something to marvel at. When Nic gets shunned at the school gates at Ollie’s school, she realizes that life may never be the same. All eyes are on her. When she’s cast as the witch in a hilarious if not dark school play, Nic loses it. Meanwhile, she begins experiencing hallucinations. Or maybe not. Because the more we learn about her BFF, Jen (Selin Hizli), we’re led to believe that it’s possible somebody is playing tricks on Nic.

About Jen… Hizli is a delight this season. There’s always been something mysterious about Jen, and this season, we witness an underhanded side to her character. This woman loves to record Nic in panic mode, only to be privy to Nic’s secrets. It’s great fun to watch this play out and, especially in the season’s later episodes, we find ourselves questioning our own loyalties to these quirky characters.

We’re Ready for Season 3

There are a lot of moving pieces this season, and sometimes it may feel challenging to track them all, but hang in there. Nic and hubby Dan’s (Dustin Demri-Burns) mini-separation hilariously confronts Nic’s infidelity, but with each passing episode, we learn even more about what’s really been going on with Nic/Alex/Dan, and Alex’s widow (Amanda Wilkin), emerges as an interesting foil for Nic if not an unexpected instigator to events we never saw coming.

Best Comedy TV Shows with Women Friendships

From Parks and Recreation to Ted Lasso, here are the top TV shows that put women’s friendships front and center.

There’s a bit of over-the-top hoopla with Nic’s hallucinations from time to time this season, but we can forgive Cooper’s excitement. Eventually, all this evens out and there’s a refreshing groundedness that emerges. Be on the lookout for Ollie to take your breath away again this go around as the character’s insecurities are put on display, allowing Cooper to explore different emotional layers in this unique mom/son relationship. Lenny Rush is a remarkable young actor, and he turns in another award-worthy performance here.
