Amazon Reportedly Wants to Distance Itself From the Old ‘James Bond’

Amazon MGM’s $1 billion dollar acquisition of the rights to theJames Bondfranchise was met with skepticism and cynicism across the internet. Everyone from die-hard fans of the franchise to its former stars weighed in on why the studio taking over could be dangerous for the future of 007. While we will have to wait until the 26th movie is released to see if those fears are justified, a recent report revealed whatAmazon is planning to do with their firstJames Bondfilm.

While the pastJames Bondmovies have kept a loose continuity across the last 25 films, Amazon MGM’s iteration will still be set in the same universe. But, the newJames Bondmovies will still try and distance themselves from those that came before. “They can’t just pretend it didn’t happen. So they’re looking at his story as a younger man in a different era,” said an insider.
