Following the firstcast photosreleased back in May,FX Networkshas released the first teaser trailer forAmerican Crime Story, debuting this February. While a specific premiere date has not been given, the series may likely debut afterAmerican Horror Story’sSeason 5run ends, since both shows were created byRyan Murphy. The trailer doesn’t show any footage, but we do get some brief snippets of dialogue fromJohn Travoltaas defense attorney Robert Shapiro,Sarah Paulsonas prosecutor Marcia Clark,Courtney B. Vanceas defense lawyer Johnnie Cochran andCuba Gooding Jr.as the defendantO.J. Simpson.

Based on the bookThe Run of His Life: The People V. O.J. Simpsonby Jeffrey Toobin, the limited series is a look at theO.J. Simpsontrial told from the perspective of the lawyers. It explores the chaotic behind-the-scenes dealings and maneuvering on both sides of the court, and how a combination of prosecution overconfidence, defense shrewdness, and the LAPD’s history with the city’s African-American community gave a jury what it needed: reasonable doubt. Theminiserieshas been given a 10 episode order by FX.

Prolific award-winning producerRyan Murphy, whoseAmerican Horror Storyfranchise invented the anthology miniseries format, has come up with his next entry:American Crime Story, a companion anthology focused each season on a different true crime story which made headlines and captivated the imagination of the public. Murphy joinsNina Jacobsonand Brad Simpson andBrad Falchukas Executive Producers ofAmerican Crime Story: The People v. O.J. Simpson, alongside writersScott AlexanderandLarry Karaszewski. Dante Di Loreto also serves as an Executive Producer, withRyan Murphyset to direct.

The first two hours of the miniseries will be written by Golden Globe-winning screenwritersScott AlexanderandLarry Karaszewski(The People vs. Larry Flynt, Ed Wood, Man on the Moon), who serve as Executive Producers ofAmerican Crime Story. The cast is rounded out byDavid Schwimmeras Robert Kardashian,Billy Magnussenas Kato Kaelin,Bruce Greenwoodrecently joined the cast as Los Angeles County District Attorney Gil Garcetti, Kenneth Choi as Judge Lance Ito,Connie Brittonas Faye Resnick,Selma Blairas Kris Jenner,Nathan Laneas F. Lee Bailey andSterling K. Brownas Christopher Darden.

It isn’t known when FX plans on debuting another trailer with the first footage, but the brief segments of dialogue in this teaser are already quite fascinating. We hear Johnnie Cochran call the case he famously helped win a “loser,” whileO.J. Simpsonmakes arrangements for his kids to be taken care of, presumably, in the event that he loses this case.
