The spy action comedyArgyllestarring Henry Cavill is due to hit theaters next month, and directorMatthew Vaughnhas big plans for the franchise. Speaking withTotal Film, who have also released a pair of new images from the movie, Vaughn reveals that he has two sequels already in mind, with the first following a younger version of Cavill’s super spy.
“Book one is about: how did Argylle become a spy? That will be the next film. And then Argylle 2 is – I don’t want to give it all away, but there’s the young Argylle, and that becomes Henry, because Henry loves the idea of doing a proper Argylle movie as well.”

Argyllewill take a meta-approachto the spy adaptation, with Bryce Dallas Howard portraying author Elly Conway, who finds herself drawn into the real world of espionage when the plots of her books get a little too close to reality. Thus, the sequels would be based on further books, adhering closer to them and largely leaving the meta-stylings behind.
And it sounds likeHenry Cavillis equally eager to star in more adventures as Agent Argylle.

“I think it’s a fun character. I mean, it depends on where we go with it, really, as with anything. I have a great relationship with Matthew, so that would be the hard part out of the way. The next bit is just building a story. As long as the story is good, and the character has a place to go, and it fits in with everything else that I’m trying to build and do, then great.”
Vaughn hopes thatArgyllewill be successful enough to spawn sequels, urging audiences to support “original stuff.”

“Everybody complains there’s not enough original stuff, but it’s because they don’t go see it. People have got to buy tickets first, or there won’t be f—ing anything.”
