With production already under way onAssassin’s Creed, the cast is starting to fill out even more, withBrendan GleesonandJeremy Ironssigning on to star.Brendan Gleesonhas come aboard to play the father ofMarion Cotillard’s character, withJeremy Ironsplaying the father ofMichael Fassbender’s Callum Lynch. They join a cast that also includesAriane Labed,Michael K. Williams, Carlos Bardem and Denis Menochet.

The story is about a revolutionary technology that unlocks genetic memories. Callum Lynch (Michael Fassbender) experiences the adventures of his ancestor, Aguilar, in 15th Century Spain. Callum discovers he is descended from a mysterious secret society, the Assassins, and amasses incredible knowledge and skills to take on the oppressive and powerful Templar organization in the present day. Fans got their first look atMichael Fassbender’sCallum Lynchback in August with the first official photo.

Justin Kurzelis directing from an adapted screenplay byScott Frank, Michael Leslie,Bill Collageand Adam Cooper. Frank Marshall, Arnon Milchan, Jean-Julien Baronnet, Conor McCaughan, Fassbender and Pat Crowley are producing. The project is based on the wildly popularAssassin’s Creedvideo game series, which has sold over 91 million units since it was first launched.

Back in August, it was revealed that theAssassin’s Creedadaptation is set in the samevideo gameuniverse, with the game franchise’s head of content,Aymar Azaizia, teasing that “familiar faces” from the games will pop up in the movies. No other characters from the games have been confirmed at this time, but with casting still happening while production is under way, perhaps we could find out new details soon. Filming is currently happening in Malta, although it isn’t known how long production is supposed to last.
