During a half-hour press event in late October 2014, Marvel Studios presidentKevin Feige, along with a number of special guests, unveiled the studio’s Phase 3 slate, which included the two-part epic adventureAvengers: Infinity War Part IandAvengers: Infinity War - Part II, which are set for release in May 2018 and May 2019, respectively.Captain America: Civil WardirectorsAnthony RussoandJoe Russowill reunite with writersChristopher MarkusandStephen McFeelyon this two-part adventure, but there is still very little we know about these movies thus far. Today we have word that, at some point, both movies will get new titles.

Many fans were incredibly excited when theInfinity Warmovies were announced, since it meant thatEarth’s Mightiest Heroeswould eventually square off against the Mad Titan himself, Thanos (Josh Brolin) over control of the Infinity Stones. During an interview withUproxx,Joe Russoteased that they are both “different movies,” while confirming that new titles will be announced, as soon as they come up with them. Here’s what the director had to say below.

“The movies are two very different movies. The intention is we will change it, we just haven’t come up with the titles yet. But, yes, we will change it. And, yes, that is a scoop: we will retitle them.”

Joe Russo’s brotherAnthony Russorevealed that the titles are “misleading,” sinceAvengers: Infinity War Part 1won’t be just one half of a huge movie. Splitting one movie into two parts has become quite trendy over the past few years, particularly with adaptations of beloved novels, like the final books in theHarry Potter,Twilight,The Hunger GamesandDivergentfranchises. This report reveals that the brothers are “adamant” that eachInfinity War moviewill feature a different story, but we don’t know anything about the story for each movie quite yet.

Production on bothInfinity Warmovies will start at the end of this year, with reports claiming that the Russo Brothers are planning a nine-month shoot to film both moviesback-to-back. The directors have also teased that theInfinity Warmovies will mark a culmination of theMarvel Cinematic Universethus far, and that there may be as many as 67 characters featured in both movies.
