‘Peter Pan’s Neverland Nightmare’ Director Explains the Major Difference From Other Horror Franchises
The mind behind ‘Peter Pan’s Neverland Nightmare’ says there’s something for everyone in the ‘Poohniverse.’
“No. Actually, a couple of times we’ve come up with some silly kills, some silly ways for Bambi to kill people. But besides that, not really, simply because we filmed this last January, and it’s still not out yet, all the others have been such tight turnarounds. So, once this comes out, I think maybe we’ll start having that conversation. But I know that the focus, because I’m involved in Pinocchio, as well, I’m editing that with Rhys, is on Poohniverse, so maybe the conversations will continue happening. But they’re more like chats over a cup of tea than they are sort of sit down, “Let’s make it happen” at this stage.”

In The ‘Bambi’ Novel, He Learns About The Dangers of Human Hunters
Bambi: The Reckoningreveals Bambi in a new light, one that centers on his will to kill. Xona (Roxanne McKee) and her son, Benji (Tom Mulheron), get into a car wreck and findthemselves hunted by Bambi. This version of the character is mutated and grief-stricken as the deer goes on a deadly rampage, seeking revenge for the death of his mother. Alongside McKee and Mulheron, the movie also stars Nicola Wright as Mary, Samira Mighty as Harriet, Alex Cooke as Simon, Russell Geoffrey Banks as Andrew, Joseph Greenwood as Harrison, and more. The screenplay is by Rhys Warrington and scarily retells the story of Felix Salten’sBambi, a Life in the Woods.
Although the horror filmshows Bambi as the aggressor, the 1923 novel is obviously different. In it, readers get a glimpse of Bambi’s life, from his childhood to the loss of his mother, the search for a mate, the lessons he learns from his father, and the experience he gains about the dangers posed by human hunters in the forest. One day, he goes searching for his mom and has his first encounter with a “He”, which is the animal term for humans. The human, who is a hunter, raises his firearm at Bambi, who then runs at top speed for his life. Thanks toThe Reckoning, Bambi finally finds out what it’s like to be the predator, and not the prey.
