Today, we will be looking at some of the most shocking moments found in the sixth season of Vince Gilligan’s hit legal drama.
Unlike many other spin-offs,Better Call Saulmostly stood on its own two feet. For the most part, the show existed separate fromBreaking Badsave for some references and recurring characters. It came as a surprise then, when it was announced Bryan Cranston and Aaron Paul would be reprising their roles as Walter White and Jesse Pinkman respectively.

The episode, fittingly titledBreaking Bad, took place both during and after the sixth season of the show. Walt and Jesse are shown speaking with Saul during the events of Saul’s first appearance in the original show. Jesse and Walt then both showed up in later season six episodes. One episode sees Jesse interacting with Kim, and will surely go down as one of the fan-favorite moments in the series.

Marion Discovers Gene’s Secret
From the first episode, fans realized that the man they know as Saul Goodman/Jimmy McGill is working at a Cinnabon under the name Gene. He has worked hard to conceal his true identity, but he can’t help but revert to his old ways. He meets an older woman whose son he has taken under his criminal wing, and she grows suspicious. This leads to her searching the internet and discovering Gene’s past. The moment she shows Gene her computer while the audience hears the now famous commercial play is shocking because the secret Jimmy has tried so hard to conceal has finally been revealed. The lives of Jimmy McGill and Saul Goodman blend with Gene’s, and there is nowhere left to hide.
Saul Gets Arrested
The main characters of theBreaking Baduniverse seem to either die or get away with their crimes. Fans were expecting one of these two outcomes for Saul, but few could have predicted that he’d actually get caught. Saul is quick-witted and loquacious, with the gift of gab. These two attributes have frequently saved his life and helped keep himout of prison. However, Saul has proven time and time again that he simply can’t help himself when it comes to criminal activity.
He finally pushes things too far, and his past catches up to him. While he is able to use his quick wit to ensure Kim gets away with her crimes, the last shot of Saul in the series finds him behind bars. Even though Saul faces justice, he does it on his own terms. This is the perfect ending for the character, but it was still shocking to see someone actually get captured by law enforcement and stay behind bars in this universe.

Marie’s Cameo in Better Call Saul
Earlier in the series, Hank Schrader makes some cameo appearances. In the final episode of the series, his widow Marie appears to give Saul a piece of her mind. There were severalBreaking Badcharacters which fans expected to see inBetter Call Saul, but Marie wasn’t one of them.
Seeing her in the police station while Saul is being interviewed was a nice surprise, and having her and Saul interact was even better. This Marie was certainly different from theBreaking Badcast memberfans came to love. This is still a grieving woman who has come face to face with the only living person she blames for her husband’s death. Not only was Marie’s presence shocking on its own, but seeing Saul more or less brush her woes aside made the ordeal even more shocking.

Nacho’s Exit
Introduced early in the series, Ignacio “Nacho” Varga was essentially the Jesse of the series. Which is to say, he started the series out on the wrong path but broke good as the series went on, as opposed to other characters breaking bad. Nacho wanted desperately to leave the cartel and ensure the safety of his father. He does everything he can, but is eventually backed into a corner.

Realizing the cartel is going to kill him, he decides not to give them the satisfaction. After an incredible speech to Hector, Nacho takes himself out, in a sad moment that left fans' jaws on the floor. Over the course of the series, Michael Mando became a belovedactor inBetter Call Saul, playing Nacho’s arc to perfection. Seeing him die in such a way was hard, but at least he was out of the cartel and his father was safe.
Lalo and Howard’s Final Resting Place
After Howard’s shocking end and Lalo’s satisfying exit, their bodies needed to be taken care of. Gus was in the middle of constructing his lab and used the opportunity to ensure nobody would find the bodies. The two men are buried together deep in the ground where the lab is to be built. What makes this moment so shocking, is that this is the same lab Walt and Jesse would later use inBreaking Bad. Because of this moment, fans now know that the entire time the lab is shown in the original series, there were two bodies there without Walt and Jesse’s knowledge. This adds another layer to the intensity ofBreaking Badand is sure to be on fans' minds when they rewatch the series.
Howard’s Death in Better Call Saul
Hands down the most shocking scene of the season, or the show for that matter, Howard’s death came inthe mid-season finale. Kim and Jimmy spent the better part of the season coming up with a plan to discredit Howard as revenge for the way he treated the pair throughout the series. A lot of screen time was dedicated to their plan, and it all worked out. They were able to ensure Howard lost his job and the public viewed him as drug-addicted with an affinity for hookers.
Howard went to their apartment to confront them when Lalo Salamance unexpectedly showed up. Lalo then shoots and kills Howard, making the entire plot of discrediting him pointless. In a matter of seconds, a character that was with the show since the beginning as well as a major plot point was no more. This moment was so shocking, some fans are still trying to reel from it. The quickness of the moment as well asstellar acting from Bob Odenkirkand Rhee Seehorn ensure that this scene will go down as one of the most shocking moments in television history.
