TheJames Bond 25 trailerdropped earlier today, and with it we have been given our first real glimpse of what the film will involve. With the trailer containing all of the car chases, death-defying stunts, fist throwing and tuxedo wearing that fans of the renowned secret agent have come to expect, we also have confirmation thatNo Time to Diewill see the return of Christoph Waltz’s terrorist and perpetual thorn in Bond’s side, Ernst Stavro Blofeld.
First seen in Daniel Craig’s fourth outing,Spectre,Christoph Waltz’s Blofeldspent the film taunting our intrepid hero, proclaiming that it had been he who had been torturing Bond the entire time. Born Franz Oberhauser, the son of Hannes Oberhauser, Bond’s legal guardian after being orphaned at the age of 11, Blofeld reveals that the two are in fact adoptive brothers. With the siblings ultimately walking very different paths, Blofeld decries that the two are different sides of the same coin, and that every terrorist organisation modern day Bond has come across has been assembled and funded by him.
To call him Bond’s nemesis would be something of an understatement at this point.
So, it should come as no surprise that theNo Time to Die trailerconfirms what had already been suspected and rumoured, Blofeld is back, and this time…it’s even more personal. Caged in what looks like a state-of-the-art facility, Blofeld is all present and correct, disfiguring eye injury included, as his and Bond’s relationship looks to be taking something of a Hannibal Lecter turn. This being a Bond film, it is unlikely that he will remain a guest of MI-6 for the film’s entirety, perhaps joining forces with Rami Malek’s baddie Safin in order to bust out. Though he does not have much to say at this stage, he looks to be continuing to relish in ridiculing Bond, paying particular attention once again to his consistently doomed romantic endeavors.
Joining Christoph Waltz and Rami Malek inNo Time to Dieare a returning Ralph Fiennes, Naomie Harris, Ben Whishaw, Rory Kinnear, Jeffrey Wright and Léa Seydoux, who will no doubt all be pestering Bond, being played for the final time by Daniel Craig. Other than Malek, the newcomers include Ana de Armas as Paloma andLashana Lynch who has taken up the mantle of 007since his retirement.
Director Cary Fukunaga famously replaced Danny Boyle forNo Time to Die, which picks up with Bond having left active service and now enjoying a tranquil life in Jamaica. His peace is short-lived when his old friend Felix Leiter from the CIA turns up asking for help. The mission to rescue a kidnapped scientist turns out to be far more treacherous than expected, leading Bond onto the trail of a mysterious villain armed with dangerous new technology.
The film is scheduled for release in the United Kingdom on July 03, 2025 and then in the United States on June 03, 2025. This comes courtesy ofUniversal Pictures.
