That’s one way of putting it.

Thus far, theDexterrenaissance has proven successful, asOriginal Sinhas drawn big numbers for Paramount+ and Showtime. The premiere episode on Dec. 13 was streamed by 2.1 million global cross-platform viewers, making it Showtime’s biggest streaming premiere in history. The prequel series stars Patrick Gibson as a young Morgan, and traces his early years as he begins to hone his craft while interning at Miami Metro.

What Does This Mean for ‘Dexter: Resurrection?’

With Zayas, Alcott, and Remar returning forDexter: Resurrection, we can glean a little insight into the direction creator Clyde Phillips might be taking the sequel, even though plot details remain a heavily guarded secret right now. One would assume that with Dexter’s secret revealed to the world, he’ll be on the run from Detective Batista, trying to do all he can to stay hidden. Harry will no doubt try to play the voice of reason as his subconscious, a role that was portrayed by Jennifer Carpenter inNew Blood, who returned as Dexter’s deceased sister, Debra.

Meanwhile, with Alcott returning to play Harrison, it’s most likely that a large chunk of the plot ofDexter: Resurrectionwill focus on the turmoil he’s experiencing as the son of a serial killer. At this point, he believes his father to be dead, so it will be interesting to see his reaction to him still being alive, and if he’ll try and track him down to perhaps learn a little more about his own homicidal tendencies.

Either way,Resurrectionis thus far shaping up to be a great homage to the original series, while at the same time moving the story forward for what will hopefully be many more years ofDexterto come. It’s already been confirmed that the Trinity Killer spinoff is still in active development, and withthe success ofOriginal Sin, we’ll most likely get a second season there, too. As we await the premiere of the sequel in June, be sure to check out the amazing prequel series streaming now on Paramount+ with Showtime.
