Be warned, there will be SPOILERS forDoctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madnessfrom the start.
Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madnessis full of surprises, the biggest of which is surely the fact that Wanda Maximoff, the formerAvengerand ally to Iron Man and Captain America, emerges as the villain of the piece. Following the painful events of Disney+ seriesWandaVision, Wanda fully emerges as The Scarlet Witch inDoctor Strange 2, embarking on a rampage across the multiverse in search of her children and a happy, peaceful life. While Wanda racks up quite the body count as it is,Elizabeth Olsenhas revealed that Wanda was initially intended to be even worse…

“I — I was — I was also supposed to kill more. I had a hard time with it. I was like, these are human beings and Wanda is okay with ending their lives? But I just had to buckle down and think all these people are in her way and she’s warned Doctor Strange not to get in her way. And he did. He didn’t listen. And so I just had to go from that point of view.”
Speaking withVariety, Olsen, who has played Wanda Maximoff throughout theMCUsince 2015’sAvengers: Age of Ultron, revealed that the character was initially going to be even more of a killer inDoctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.
One of the most shocking moments inDoctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madnessinvolvesthe introduction of the superhero team The Illuminati. Residing in a different universe, The Illuminati is made up of several major heroes, including Patrick Stewart’s Professor Xavier, and even introduces the likes of John Krasinski asThe Fantastic Four’sMr. Fantastic. However, despite the team having only just been brought into the fray, they are each brutally murdered by Wanda. And in record time, no less.
Though Olsen does not reveal who else Wanda was supposed to kill, considering the murderous mayhem she does achieve, would even more murder have simply been too much? Or would you have liked to seeDoctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madnessmake The Scarlet Witch even darker?
