Emma Thompsonis the latest actor confirmed to star in a film set to be featured in the forthcoming European Film Market in Berlin. It was recently announced that the two-time Academy Award winner Emma Thompson is set to star in Brian Kirk’s action thriller filmThe Fisherwoman.Varietyreported that veteran actress Sharon Stone was first tapped to play the lead role, but it ultimately went to Thompson.
Directed by Brian Kirk,The Fisherwomanis based on a script written by Nicholas Jacobson-Larson and Dalton Leeb. The film has reportedly wrapped filming. The distribution rights for the film will be handled by Mossbank at the upcoming European Film Market in Berlin. Mossbank will also be handling the domestic rights of the movie alongside CAA Media Finance and Augenschein.

The film tells the tale of a widowed fisherwoman trapped in a Minnesotan blizzard. While she’s stuck in the snowstorm, she chances upon the kidnapping of a teenager. She will try everything in her power to stop the abductions knowing that she’s the only ray of hope the poor victim has.
Stampede Ventures' president of production Jon Berg was astounded by the actress’s talent. He feels honored and excited that the actress agreed to participate in the film.
