Though the summer’s coming to an end, Disney is still keeping the fun with plenty of new shows coming on to their steaming serviceDisney+, including epic lightsaber fights and grand space battles, alien baby antics, getting up and personal with animals, diverse short films, and more all coming in September.

Continuing from last month isStar Wars: Ahsoka, the highly-anticipated series following the fan-favorite character across the galaxy as she searches for her lost friend and old enemy. And on Sept. 6, the season two premiere of Marvel’sI Am Groot,with brand-new animated short films following the twiggy baby. Then, on Sept. 6,9/11: A Day in America,chronicling the tragic day. Next, on Sept. 13, the series premieresAnimals Up Close with Bertie Gregory.Afterward, on Sept. 27, season five of To Catch A Smuggler hits the service. And last, the premiere of season two of Disney’sLaunchpad, a whole new collection of live-action short films. So here’s everything we know about these TV seriescoming to Disney+in September 2023.

Star Wars Ahsoka

Star Wars: Ahsoka (Continuing)

One of the most anticipated Star Wars projects of the year,Ahsokais keeping its freshman run big and strong since its premiere debut just last month in August. For those who have been keeping up with the various Star Wars series on Disney+,Ahsokapicks up after her appearances inThe MandalorianandThe Book of Boba Fett.

A fan-favorite character for fifteen years now, Ahsoka Tano (Rosario Dawson), former padawan to Anakin Skywalker/Darth Vader, is on the hunt for the legendary mastermindGrand Admiral Thrawn(Lars Mikkelsen) in hopes of preventing the terror with which he threatens the galaxy. Along the way, Ahsoka runs into her old crew from theRebelsseries and meets a few more lightsaber-wielding warriors who seem to exist on the fringes of the Force.

I Am Groot

Strong in the Force, a soldier equipped with two blazing white lightsabers, a warrior armed with the skill and knowledge of a lifetime of experience in war, and though not quite a Jedi and yet not quite a Sith, Ahsoka must walk a dangerous unknown path of riddles and mysteries to save her friends, herself, and the galaxy.

I Am Groot Season 2 Premiere (Sept. 6)

Baby Groot will be arriving Sept. 6 once again for the season two premiere of his series from Marvel StudiosI Am Groot, an unexpected return after the end of his story within the MCU inGuardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, but we’re always happy to welcome the troublesome twiggy toddler back on to our screens.

The five new short films willfollow the younger Groot(Vin Diesel) and his misadventures with the Guardians across the galaxy, where he’ll meet the famous Uatu the Watcher, chase ice cream trucks across space, grow a nose for the first time, and generally have a fun time—and we can come along for the ride too.

9/11: One Day in America (Sept. 6)

Arriving on Sept. 6,9/11: One Day In Americatells the harrowing story of the victims of the terrorist attacks on the World Trade Center, the Pentagon, and the free world by Osama bin Laden and his extremists Al Qaeda on Sept. 11, 2001.

The six-part mini-documentary series from National Geographic follows the terrorist attacks through the records of archival footage and eyewitnesses of the horrible event, as well as the personal testimonies of survivors, charting the tragic day in unprecedented detail – from the first plane hitting the North tower to the last few survivors being rescued from the rubble of the South tower, uploaded to the streamer in commemoration of 9/11.

Animals Up Close with Bertie Gregory Series Premiere (Sept. 13)

The thrilling wildlife filmmaker and National Geographic explorer Bertie Gregory ofEpic Adventuresfame are back with the premiere of his new seriesAnimalsUp Close, and this time, the adventures are even more epic! Bertie takes us to the most spectacular corners of our planet —from Antarctica to Africaand Asia – tracking down extraordinary animals to capture their daily lives like never before.

To Catch a Smuggler Season 5 (Sept. 27)

Arriving Sept. 27 is season five of the hit reality documentary seriesTo Catch A Smuggler,which takes a look at the work of the US Customs and Border Protection at New York’s JFK International Airport, who protect America from criminals trying to sneak contraband and themselves into the country. Featuring other airports around the world, the show depicts the work of customs agents to stop everything from fraudulentvisas to human trafficking.
