A good video game offers players a cinematic experience, so it’s little surprise that these games tend to win over fans when adapted for the movies or TV. In the case of PlayStation, there have already been severalamazing shows and movie adaptations, includingThe Last of UsandUncharted.And in the not-so-distant future, viewers can look forward to even more coming out.

God of Warconsists of nine games that integrate first Greek and then Norse mythology. Each of the games follows the Spartan Warrior Kratos as he becomes the God of War and battles other deities. The TV series is set to adapt the latter half of the games (though some fanswant the Greek era includedas well), and while the series will undoubtedly offer viewers an exciting experience, many fans areeager for a movieinstead.

Faces a Lot of Issues

Strong fan opinions are only the start ofGod of War’sproblems. Initially announced in 2022, the series’producers recently left the show, which essentially meant it had to start all over again. Fortunately,showrunner Ronald D. Moorehas taken the reigns, and his background in fantasy series will hopefully help bringGod of Warto life.

TheGhost of Tsushimamovie adaptation was announced in 2021, withChad Stahelski ofJohn Wickfamechosen to direct. The director has shared some interesting ideas for the movie, such asfilming it entirely in Japaneseand releasing thefilm in black and white. It’s obvious he’s excited about the production, which will hopefully lend to it being a success.

Still in the Works

The director previously said that he wastaking his time with the movieto get it just right. As of 2023, the film wasstill in development, and the latest update revealed thata script has already been created, and that it offered a faithful adaptation. Plus, fans of the game will have even more to look forward to, as it’s not the onlyGhost of Tsushimaproduction in the works.

8’Ghost of Tsushima: Legends'

The only Playstation-based anime currently in development,Ghost of Tsushima: Legendsisexpected to release in 2027. The co-op multiplayer mode upon which it’s based allowed gamers to play online or with friends as Samurai, Ronin, Assassins, and Hunters. These classes worked together to battle the evil Oni and take down the Mongol Empire.

An Exciting Adaptation

Ghost of Tsushima: Legendsis an ideal game to adapt into an anime. It already features Japanese artwork and mythology, and there’s a talented, dedicated team working to help the show reach its full potential.

Video games are fun to play, but watching them on-screen can be an even better experience.

7’Days Gone'

Days Goneis an open-world zombie game that follows Deacon St. John as he sets out to find and save his wife, Sarah. Although a sequel was in the works,it was ultimately cut, likely due to the game’s mixed reviews. However,fans still think highly ofDays Gone, and their continued loyalty helped spark interest in a film version.

Shambling On

A movie adaptation ofDays Gonewas announced in 2022, withSam Heughan set to play the characterof Deacon. Unfortunately, not many updates have been given since. Hopefully,the recent remasterof the game will soon renew interest and lead to more news.

6’Gravity Rush'

The action-adventure gameGravity Rushfollows the amnesia-stricken Kat, a Shifter who can alter gravity. She wakes up in a floating city being attacked by eerie creatures called Nevi, and soon, she’s enlisted to help stop the creatures and protect the city, all while trying to remember her past.

Strange Choices

Gravity Rushwas a huge hit when it came out in 2012, but the little fans know of the adaptation has themscratching their heads. For example, fans worry about how a live-action version will come across. Many also think that the change to a more modern setting doesn’t seem in the spirit of the original.

5’Helldivers'

The live-actionHelldiversmovie was announced in January of this year, and it will be based on the second installment in the game series,Helldivers 2.The SciFi shootertakes place in the future and focuses on a colony that seeks to force democracy on other planets. When the player is recruited to join the Helldivers, he must fight in the Galactic War against Automatons, aliens, and other enemies.

Changing the Format

Coming out in April of this year, the newUntil Dawnmovie looks little like the game it’s based on. The creators decided to useall new charactersand a time loop effect so that said characters could die off and come back to life. While some fans were looking forward to a faithful adaptation, the game already offered a movie-like experience.
