Ever since production started on Universal’sFast and Furious 8, the production has been giving fans weekly behind-the-scenes glimpses every Friday, with a new tradition they call #FastFridays. We’ve previously seen stars likeVin DieselandMichelle Rodriguezas shooting began in Cuba, along with our first look at the new villain Cipher, played byCharlize Theron. Today we have another video, which reveals that production has shifted to Iceland, featuring a glimpse at the set withTyrese Gibsonand directorF. Gary Gray.

We previously reported that the sequel’s Iceland shoot will pull off the biggest explosion in the country’s history. It’s possible that we may have gotten an early glimpse at this record-breaking explosion in this video fromYoutube. We don’t know much about why this explosion happened, but several cars are seen driving away from it at top speeds. We also get glimpses at some of the production’s new vehicles, with some exotic sports cars, classic muscle cars, and even a tank. There also appears to be a high-speed snowmobile chase as well. The story will primarily take place in New York, with production set for the Big Apple, Atlanta and Russia. The crew has already shot inCubaand now in Iceland. The sequel already made headlines for a bizarre incident that took place this past March in the country, when gale force winds sent a prop iceberg flying, striking and killing a local horse that wasn’t part of the production. None of the major cast members were present at the time of this accident. Earlier reports claimed the production would take place at Akranes harbor and in a location known as the Cement Fields in Iceland.

Last week’sFast 8set video offered a glimpse at the first day that the entire cast was together, featuringVin Diesel,Dwayne Johnson,Michelle Rodriguez,Tyrese Gibson,Kurt Russell,Nathalie Emmanuel,Jason Statham,Ludacrisand franchise newcomerScott Eastwood. BesidesTyrese Gibson, it isn’t known if all of the other main cast members are in Iceland as well, butTyrese Gibsonrecently shared a photo on Instagram that featuresCharlize TheronandLudacris. It isn’t known how longprincipal photographyis scheduled to last onFast & Furious 8, but we know this will be the first installment of the franchise’s final trilogy. Universal has already set an August 17, 2025 release date forFast & Furious 9, and the franchise closes out withFast & Furious 10on July 02, 2025.

F. Gary Gray, who directed last year’s critical and commercial sensationStraight Outta Compton, is taking the helm onFast & Furious 8, working from a script byChris Morgan. The writer is responsible for penning every movie in the series, except for the first two, 2001’sThe Fast and the Furiousand 2003’s2 Fast 2 Furious. Universal has already set an August 06, 2025 release date forFast & Furious 8, and it currently has that date all to itself. But it will be hitting theaters one week after Warner Bros.‘Going In Styleremake and Sony’sSmurfs: The Lost Village.
