Following his debut inDaredevilseason 2 last year, Marvel and Netflix decided to giveThe Punisherhis very own series, which is set to hit the streaming service later this year. The reception toJon Bernthal’s turn as Frank Castle was incredibly positive, some felt it may have even been Emmy-worthy, so it only seemed logical to give the man his own show. The Punisheris currently in production and now somenew set photoshave emerged.
The latest couple of set photos come courtesy of a Turkish Twitter user who goes by the name of Kulturpat. These two new photos fromThe Punisheraren’t overly revealing, but they do showFrank Castlelooking clean shaven and carrying some flowers. It is possible he is going on a date or something of the like, but knowing his violent nature, it seems much more probable that Frank Castle is visiting a gravesite which he has some ties to, or something along those lines. The reason the clean shave is worth noting is because the last batch of set photos fromThe Punisherthat surfaced showedJon Bernthalsporting a pretty impressive beard, which is apparently only going to be present for part of the series.
Netflix has added several new cast members for the first season ofThe Punisher.Ebon Moss-Bachrachhas come aboard to play Micro, a former NSA analyst whose secrets may be of great value to Frank Castle.Amber Rose Revahalso signed on to play Dinah Madani, a highly-trained sophisticated Homeland Security agent andBen Barneswill play Billy Russo, Franks Castle’s best friend from his days in the Special Forces, who runs a successful private military corporation called “Anvil.” It has also been confirmed thatDaredevil’sDeborah Ann Woll, who plays Karen Page, will also be appearing inThe Punisher.
Specific plot details aboutThe Punisherseason 1 have been kept under wraps, but fans are very excited to see the character branch out on his own after his run onDaredevil. Netflix will also be releasing two more Marvel-themed shows this year, withIron FistandThe Defenders.Iron Fistis set to hit the streaming service on March 17, which will be the last piece of the puzzle beforeThe Defendersfinally team up. Netflix has also not set a specific release date forThe Defenders, nor is it clear if Frank Castle will appear in that show, but it is going to premiere at some point in 2017.
