Earlier this summer at Comic-Con, Marvel confirmed thatGhost Rideris actually coming to ABC’sAgents of S.H.I.E.L.D.when it returns for Season 4 this fall. There had been rumors of Ghost Rider’s debut long before it was confirmed, but fans were surprised when it was revealed thatGabriel Lunais playing Robbie Reyes. Today we have our first official look at this new character, plus details fromGabriel Lunahimself and executive producerJed Whedon.
Entertainment Weeklydebuted the first look photo featuringGabriel Luna, withJed Whedonrevealing that Robbie Reyes will be a kid from East Los Angeles, like in the comics. We get a new look at the character showcasing his East L.A. roots in this new photo. Here’s what the executive producer had to say below.

“As always, we are going to put our own spin on the character. We are staying true to the comics in the places where we feel like it’s really important - we love the character’s family dynamic and the East L.A. kid in him.”
The introduction of this character comes a few years afterMarvelgot the rights back to the Ghost Rider character, along with Blade and The Punisher. The Punisher already debuted in Season 2 ofDaredevilbut now Ghost Rider is coming toAgents of S.H.I.E.L.D.. Here’s whatJeph Loebhad to say in his statement about how the Marvel Cinematic Universe has grown.
“It started out with a guy building a suit using science, and then we met aliens that are the origin of the myths behind some of our gods, and this yearDoctor Strangecomes out. We’re opening it up even further to the world of things we don’t totally understand, or as Thor says, ‘Magic is science that we don’t understand.’ Well, we’re getting into some very, very fancy science.”
