Comedy appears to remain a favorite among households in the United States following the latest ratings. Led by third-generation spin-off series,Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage,CBS is crushing the competition on Thursday Nights. With a sizable shift to streaming services like Netflix and Max, it appears that sitcoms like Georgie & Mandy are still consistent performers for network television. Considering the original series,The Big Bang Theory, premiered nearly two decades ago, such strong interest in the lore of Sheldon Cooper and his family is a considerable win for CBS.

According toDeadline,Georgie and Mandywas the overall top-performing show across all of primetime TV in its slot, boasting a whopping 6.54 million viewers. The rating has only slightly dipped from its initial premiere number, signalingno decline in interestin the characters first introduced inThe Big Bang Theory, and further expanded on throughout the entirety of Young Sheldon’s impressive run.

No End In Sight For Big Bang Universe

With juggernaut ratings forGeorgie & Mandy’s First Marriage, there doesn’t appear to be an end in sight for the extended universe ofThe Big Bang Theory.Ratings play a pivotal role in keeping a franchise afloat, and like other TV universes likeOneChicago,NCIS, andLaw & Order, if the fans are willing to support it, there’s no limit on how long it can go on for. Fans on social media are inclined to agree with many expressing their excitement about the playful nature of GAMFM and what it means for the future of the Cooper family.

Not only does the ongoing fan support give the spin-off legs, but the title alone suggests there could be more to come. Considering this is only tackling the duo’sfirstmarriage, the door appears open for subsequent sequel seriesdown the road. It also remains to be seen if Ian Armitage will ever make a cameo in the new series, reprising his role as the titular character fromYoung Sheldon,a move that would all but guarantee a seismic boost in already strong ratings.

As reported byTV Line, Lance Barber currently set to make an unexpected appearance as George Cooper Sr. in an upcoming episode ofGeorgie & Mandy’s First Marriage. Series creators Chuck Lorre, Steve Holland, and Steven Molaro had thought about bringing the fan-favorite father back since the spinoff’s inception, and one episode allowed them to make it happen.

“His dad visits him in a dream. George is thinking about his dad, and he’s worried that his dad might be disappointed in him…. [The idea] came out of a conversation we’d had with Chuck, even early on, talking about the show. Chuck had said about his own father that he still dreams about him, he still visits him, so that was a thing we had thought about. And then when we were breaking this episode, it just seemed like a great opportunity to bring George back.”
