Harrison Fordis currently busy on some big blockbuster movies for someone now in his 80s. However, it doesn’t look like that bothers him any more than – well anything really. As a veteran of the industry, Ford is very rarely phased by anything and will always be happy to to give his direct opinion on any subject when asked. In a new discussion withEsquire, Ford was asked about his latest venture, playing Thaddeus “Thunderbolt” Ross in theMarvel Cinematic Universe, and although Ford did not go into specifics, he was more than happy to share some thoughts on how working on a Marvel movie is still work at the end of the day, no matter how much “fun” there can be on set.
“Yeah, I mean there are tough days and easy days and fun days and all kinds of days. It’s a tough schedule and, yeah it’s fun. But it’s not a walk in the park. It’s not fun fun. It’s work!”

Of course Ford’s contribution to the MCU is only happening now due tothe death of William Hurt, who originally portrayed Ross inThe Incredible Hulkback in 2008 and made his last appearance in 2021’sBlack Widow. Whether Ford would have been considered for any other character if this circumstance had not arisen is unknown, but what is clear is that Ford does seem to be having fun with his new MCU family..even if it is just “work fun.”

There has been plenty of talk aboutIndiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny, from the great to the not so great depending on which of the early reviews you choose to believe. With only a short while before the film finally goes up in front of its true audience in cinemas around the world, Ford has also been more than happy to discuss his final outing as Indy. Later in his interview, he explained why he felt it was necessary to come back one last time as one of this most iconic characters. He said:
“I wanted an ambitious movie to be the last one. And I don’t mean that we didn’t make ambitious movies before – they were ambitious in many different ways. But not necessarily as ambitious with the character as I wanted the last one to be.”
Of course this time around there are many things that makeIndiana Jones and the Dial of Destinyone of the biggest and most, to use Ford’s word of the moment, ambitious in the entire franchise. There are plenty of ways in which movie making has changed since the original Indiana Jones trilogy, and even sinceKingdom of the Crystal Skull, and that means there are new ways to beable to tell a story that spans decadesand includes some true fantasy sequences to boot.
Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destinyarrives in cinemas on June 30, while Ford’s first appearance in the MCU is expected to come in 2024.
