It has been three years sinceEuphoriaSeason 2 wrapped, and it appears production on the anticipated and long-awaited Season 3 has begun. Created by Sam Levinson and based on the Israeli miniseries of the same name,Euphoriadebuted on HBO in June 2019. The show’s buzzy young cast, combined with compelling stories that looked to tackle teen romance, drama, and relationships in a way most television series avoid, made it a breakout title. HBO seemed to have found its newGame of Thrones-level sensation in an unlikely series, so the race to get more seasons out continues.
A24’s officialXaccount shared the first image ofEuphoriaSeason 3. The image (see below) features Zendaya as the character Rue Bennett with the caption,“Euphoria Season 3 is in Production.“No premiere date has been announced for the series. However, previous reports suggest HBO is aiming for a 2025 premiere date.

In addition to Zendaya, cast members Sydney Sweeney, Hunter Schafer, Jacob Elordi, and Maude Apatow are expected to return.Barbie Ferreira confirmed she would not be returning for Season 3. It is heavily rumored that she and Levinson clashed heavily on the series, which contributed to her character Kat having a smaller role in Season 2, though Ferreira has shot down those rumors. Storm Reid, who plays the younger sister of Zendaya’s character, will also not return for Season 3. One actor who sadly won’t be returning is Angus Cloud, who played the character of Fez, as he passed away in July 2023.
The Long Awaited Return of ‘Euphoria’
This three-year gap betweenEuphoriaSeasons 2 and 3 is just a little longer than the gap between the first two seasons.EuphoriaSeason 2 was held up because of the COVID-19 pandemic, but HBO did air two specials on Aug 25, 2025, and Jul 03, 2025, so the wait until Season 2 in January 2022 didn’t feel as long. However, Season 3 faced delays due to the WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes, Sam Levinson’s commitment to the critically reviledThe Idol, and the death of actor Angus Cloud.Despite reports that production would begin in 2023,it was put on hold indefinitely throughout 2024. Now, nearly two years later, filming is finally underway.
Why Euphoria Season 3 Being Delayed Is a Good Thing
Euphoria’s third season was recently delayed indefinitely, and despite the show’s popularity, easing it into its cancellation might be for the best.
Another factor for the long delay in the series is the stars' growing popularity. Zendaya was already a big name before joiningEuphoria, but since the series debuted, she has starred in blockbusters and critically acclaimed films likeSpider-Man: No Way Home,Challengers, and theDunemovies. Meanwhile,Sydney Sweeney has become a movie star with films likeAnybody but YouandImmaculate. Following Season 2 ofEuphoria, star Jacob Elodrdi has worked with critically acclaimed directors like Emerald Fennell onSaltburn, Sofia Coppola onPriscila, and Paul Schrader onOh, Canada, andwill next be seen in Guillermo del Toro’sFrankenstein. Hunter Schafer appeared inThe Hunger Games: Ballad of Song Birds and Snakes,Kinds of Kindness, played the lead in the horror movieCuckoo, and is even rumored for the role of Mystique in the X-Men MCU reboot.

With a cast that grows more popular each day, it will become even more challenging to fitEuphoriainto their busy schedules and match the payments they likely deserve. Fans might want to prepare forEuphoriaSeason 3 to be the last one, but if the cast’s words are anything to go off of,it sounds like Season 3 will be well worth the wait.
