Batman v Superman: Dawn of JusticestarHenry Cavillhas signed on to star in and produce the action-thrillerStratton, withSimon West(The Expendables 2) coming aboard to direct. The story is based on the first in a series of eight novels written byDuncan Falconer, a former operative in the Special Boat Services (SBS). The story followsHenry Cavill’s title character and his team, who “risk life, limb and national security to track down an international terrorist cell.” Here’s whatHenry Cavillhad to say about the project in a statement.
“I’ve long wanted to tell a story about the British Special Forces and finally the opportunity has come around.Duncan Falconer’s work is fantastic and we are incredibly fortunate to be working with him so closely. We plan to convert the books to cinema as accurately as possible while keeping them topical.Simon Westis a perfect match for this movie with his ability to marry story-telling and action, both of which are essential to do this project justice!”

The greatest challenge was always going to be who can play a character like that and bring depth and realism. Ileen Maisel and Lawrence Elman’s Amber Entertainment initially optioned and developed the novel. They will co-produce withHenry Cavilland his Promethean Productions partnersCharlie CavillandRex Glensy. GFM Films is providing the financing and handle worldwide sales. Production is scheduled to begin in the U.K. and Italy this summer. Before he takes flight as Superman in next year’sBatman v Superman: Dawn of Justice,Henry Cavillwill next be seen inThe Man from U.N.C.L.E.alongsideArmie Hammer, which hits theaters August 14.
