Henry Cavill may have already lined up his next franchise, with the actor reportedly signing on to star in and produce aWarhammer 40,000series for Amazon Studios. Once dubbed “the unluckiest man in Hollywood,”Henry Cavillhas been blighted with a series of negative headlines recently, with the actor suddenly walking away from his lead role in Netflix’sThe Witcherbefore just as suddenly losing the role ofSupermanfor good.
Thankfully, Cavill’s luck may be changing once again, with theMan of Steelstar already lining up his next major franchise. And it’s one that is very close to his heart. According toThe Hollywood Reporter, Cavill is now attached to lead and executive produce a serial adaptation of the most popular miniature wargame in the world, Warhammer 40k. Of which Henry Cavillhas revealed several times that he is a big fan.

A hugely popular tabletop game,Warhammer 40,000is set in the distant future, where a stagnant human civilization is under siege by hostile aliens and supernatural creatures.Warhammerdrops players into “the grim darkness of the far future, where mighty armies clash on countless war-torn worlds and Humanity stands alone, beset on all sides by the threats of the heretic, the mutant and the alien,” the official description of the game from Games Workshop reads. “There is no mercy. There is no respite. Prepare yourself for battle.”
Amazon Studios is in final talks to adapt the game for its streaming service, having emerged victorious in what was no doubt a highly competitive bidding war. While no other names are attached at present, Vertigo Entertainment is attached to executive produce alongside Cavill.
The property certainly sounds ripe for adaptation and, much like withThe Witcher, will have a serious fan as its lead star and behind-the-scenes. While bothThe WitcherandSupermanfansremain disappointed that Henry Cavill will no longer be involvedin either of these tentpole projects, perhaps the idea of him in aWarhammer 40,000series will be enough to take the edge off.
