When last she spoke about her fan-favoriteKick-AsscharacterHit-Girl, star of the franchiseChloe Moretzclaimed thatKick-Ass 3was dead, blaming the sequel’s demise on piracy. Now, director of the originalMatthew Vaughnis singing a different tune. Not only does he think there will be aKick-Ass 3, but he believes it should be proceeded by aHit-Girlprequel movie.
Sure,Chloe Moretzhas stated that she is pretty much done with the young vigilante Mindy McCready. But speaking withJoBlo,Matthew Vaughn(who is currently promoting his latest film as a director,Kingsman: The Secret Service) believes he can convince the young actress to come back and once again don the iconic purple mini-skirt.
“Do you know what’s going to be next if I do it… we’ve finished plotting it. What we have to do is, we’ve got to do the First Class to theKick-Assworld. We lost a few fans onKick-Ass 2. It wasn’t as loved as one would’ve hoped. So we have this idea for aHit-Girlprequel. It’s a really strong, really simple prequel where I think we can regain the love and the passion. If that happens, I’m pretty sure I can persuade Aaron and Chloe to come back and finish the story of Kick-Ass with Kick-Ass 3”.
Chloe Moretzrecently turned 18, so she is a little old to star in aHit-Girlprequel. ButMatthew Vaughnmay be talking about a lean, cut-down prequel toKick-Ass 3that solely focuses on Mindy. Otherwise, he will have to find a new actor to come in and take over the role ofHit-Girl, if it is a true prequel following her exploits with her father Damon, originally played byNicolas Cage.
Matthew Vaughnlater stated that he would not direct this prequel himself. He is looking for someone likeGareth Evans, the director of the action cult hitThe Raid: Redemptionand its sequelThe Raid 2.
“A really bold, clever director. Most of it is set in the far east.”
