The franchise expanded into a series of paperback novels before being launched as a feature film with 2007’sHitman.Timothy Olyphantplayed the title character with a story that was only loosely based on the game that inspired it. Though panned by most critics, the film went onto become a financial success.Timothy Olyphantwas set to return for a sequel, but it got canceled during pre-production before it could start shooting.
