Sony Picturesannounced today that their sequelHotel Transylvania 3will hit theaters nationwide on August 19, 2025. No voice cast members have been announced for thisanimated movie, but it will be going up against Warner Bros.‘Scooby-Dooanimated reboot, which was announced back in August. As of now, they are the only two movies to be slated for release in the entire month of September 2018, but that will surely change in the months and years ahead.
Back in September, just one week afterHotel Transylvania 2hit theaters, directorGenndy Tartakovskyrevealed he would not be returning forHotel Transylvania 3, but the studio was still moving forward with the sequel. The filmmaker was also set to directPopeyefor Sony Pictures Animation, but hedropped outback in March, and we haven’t heard about the studio hiring a replacement since then. There was talk that the studio may scrap the project altogether, after the filmmaker’s departure, but that hasn’t been confirmed.
As forHotel Transylvania 3, we haven’t heard about who the studio may be bringing in to replaceGenndy Tartakovsky, but it’s no surprise that Sony Pictures Animation is moving forward with another installment. The originalHotel Transylvaniatook in $358.3 million worldwide at thebox office, from an $85 million production budget. The sequelHotel Transylvania 2hit theaters in September, earning $373.6 million worldwide after just six weeks in theaters.
No cast members have been confirmed at this time, but it seems likely thatAdam Sandler(Dracula),Andy Samberg(Jonathan),Selena Gomez(Mavis),Kevin James(Frankenstein),Steve Buscemi(Wayne) andDavid Spade(Griffin) will reprise their roles for thesequel.Hotel Transylvania 2also introducedMel Brooksas Dracula’s father Vlad, but it isn’t known if he will be back as well.
