Hugh Jackmanhas bulked up many times to play Marvel’s Wolverine, but the actor has denied ever using steroids to pack on the pounds. While discussing a number of subjects with Chris Wallace, Jackman was asked directly whether he had ever enhanced his body using steroids and had a direct answer in return; no, it was all about hard work and chicken. During his interview forCNN’s Who’s Talking to Chris Wallace, Jackman said:

“No, I love my job. And I love Wolverine. I got to be careful what I say here, but I had been told anecdotally what the side effects are of that. And I was like, ‘I don’t love it that much.’ So no, I just did it the old school way. And I tell you, I’ve eaten more chickens — I’m so sorry to all the vegans and vegetarians and to the chickens of the world. Literally the karma is not good for me. If the deity has anything related to chickens, I’m in trouble.”

Of course Jackman is now likely working his way through plenty more pieces of poultry as he gets in shape once again to reprise the role of Wolverine inDeadpool 3. While unexpected, his return has gone down incredibly well will fans, and has almost guaranteed the third Deadpool movie’s success when it hits theaters in 2024.

Hugh Jackman is as Surprised as Everyone Else to be Reprising his Role as Wolverine.

Although it has been talked about more than the return of any other Marvel character,Hugh Jackman never really expected to be playing Wolverine again afterLogan. However, the offer of doing something different with the character by giving him a chance to be Deadpool’s rival on screen was too much to resist. He said:

“I really thought I was done. Like, I was at peace with it. I got asked every day, either in interviews, or Ryan Reynolds ringing me, ‘Can we do it again?’ I’m like, ‘No, I’m done.’ Someone said to me, I think it was Deb, she’s my wife, she said, ‘You know, after this, what is it you really wanna do?’ And I was just driving down a day later and I thought, ‘What do I want?’ And it came to me like that, because when I keep thinking of me and Ryan and Deadpool and Wolverine, which are classic comic book rivals, there’s also a dynamic that I’ve never really got to do before as Wolverine.”

Deadpool 3was always set to be a hit, butwith Jackman on board the franchisenow has a good chance of reclaiming the title of highest-grossing R-rated movie of all time. After being delayed slightly in the last Marvel Studios schedule shake-up, Deadpool and Woverine fans have a little longer to wait to see the two characters come to blows.Deadpool 3is currently expected to debut on Aug 18, 2025.
