Back in January,Avengers: Infinity War Part IandAvengers: Infinity War - Part IIdirectorsAnthony RussoandJoe Russoteased that there will be a whopping67 charactersinvolved in their superhero adventure, which they later clarified wasn’t the exact count. Regardless, the two-part adventure will certainly be massive, bringing an end toMarvel Phase Three.ComicBook.comrecently caught up with the filmmakers to shed new light on the story.Anthony Russorevealed that the story will be told from multiple perspectives that will include every established MCU character.
“It’s a culmination of everything that’s occurred in the Marvel Universe up to the point where the Marvel Universe is released. Some of those films haven’t even hit yet. We’re going to be dealing with some of the characters from those movies who are going to be inInfinity War. They’re massive in scope and scale but that’s the point. The point is for them to be as ambitious as they possibly can be. They’re going to be multi-perspective films. They’re not called ‘Captain America: Infinity War,’ they’re called Infinity War. You’re going to be moving around through different perspectives of the characters. It’s like Nashville forsuper heroes. It’s storytelling that is vignetted storytelling. It’s to composite all of them under one story - everybody. you’re able to culminate without all of them, so…”
This could mean that the movies will include characters from the Marvel Netflix TV shows,Daredevil,Jessica Jones,Luke CageandIron Fist, since they are part of the MCU as well. Last April, a report surfaced that the brothers plan to shoot both moviesback-to-backover a nine-month stretch, starting in late 2016. This will allow plenty of time for post-production, sinceAvengers: Infinity War Part Iarrives in May 2018, withAvengers: Infinity War - Part IIfollowing in May 2019. The brothers confirmed that production will start in November of this year in Atlanta.
The filmmakers also recently stated that bothAvengers: Infinity War Part IandAvengers: Infinity War - Part IIwill focus onsecondary Avengers, hinting that some of these minor characters will become major players inPhase Four. As of now, we don’t know which movies will kick offPhase Four, but back in October, the studio set threerelease datesfor unspecified movies onMay 1, 2020,July 10, 2020andNovember 6, 2020, which will likely kick offPhase Four.
