When it was announced thatThe Walking Deadwould end with its eleventh season, it was also revealed that multiple spinoffs would follow to keep the story going. Initially, it was announced that McBride would join Reedus in a spinoff following Carol and Daryl Dixon. It was later reported that the spinoff would instead be a solo series for Daryl.

Recently, footage from the setof the Daryl Dixon spinoff seemed to show McBride alongside Reedus, suggesting Carol makes an appearance in the spinoff after all. While this hasn’t been officially confirmed by AMC, it was enough to get Morgan excited. The Negan actor, who now stars in his ownWalking Deadspinoff alongside Lauren Cohan, took toTwitterto remark how he “can’t wait” to see Daryl and Carol sharing the screen again.

Jeffrey Dean Morgan Came to Norman Reedus' Defense from Toxic Fans

While McBride reportedly declined the spinoff because she didn’t want to relocate to Europe for the production, there had been some fans criticizing Reedus online, suggesting the actor somehow had Carol booted from the show. At that time, Morgan was quick to come to Reedus' defense, hopping on Twitter to tell these people how wrong they had been with that assumption. He reiterated how Reedus had nothing to do with the change.

“Some of you have gone WAY too far. TOXIC,” Morgan said at the time. “Attacking norm for crap he has NOTHING to do with? Melissa made a call that was hers alone. She wants/needs a break. Respect that. Factors involved that are nobody’s business. Norm, who’s given more than anyone to you all. Just SH*TTY.”

In a subsequent tweet, he added, “Norman had nothing to do with picking location. That decision is all about story, ideas… MONEY. That’s studio/network. Not actors. We can say yes and do, or no, and not do… MAYBE. SOMETIMES. If we’re lucky and don’t have contract yet. Rarely does actor have that power.”

In any case, it would seem that fans will see Daryl and Carol reuniting after all. Meanwhile, Morgan can currently be seen in the new spinoff,The Walking Dead: Dead City, which is set in the ruins of Manhattan. Lauren Cohan also returns as Maggie, reluctantly joining Negan in a mission to rescue her kidnapped son in the Big Apple. It’s not the only ongoing spinoff, asFear the Walking Deadis also currently working its way through its eighth and final season.
