Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumaniahas become one of few Marvel Studios’ flops. Although the movie managed to accumulate a more than decent $417.8 at the worldwide box office against a $200 million budget, the movie was highly criticized by many fans. Especially because the movie was supposed to be the introduction of the next MCU villain, Kang the Conqueror.
Even whenJonathan Majors’ character had a brief appearance inLokias He Who Remains, the third installment of Paul Rudd’s adventures as Scott Lang was his presentation letter, and it did disappoint many fans. The actor gave a wonderful performance, but not many details about his character and what he could mean for the entire franchise were shared in the movie, so it’s hard to see how he is such a terrible menace to the multiverse.
Of course, there’s still plenty of time for the MCU to get their audience to know Kang, as he’ll be the guy to defeat for a long time. But it seems that some of the character’s story was set to be included inAnt-Man 3, and in the end didn’t make it, as writer Jeff Loveness revealed toBackstory Magazine:
“Oh yeah, plenty. Some of these I might use for ‘Kang’… there was a lot more Kang in a lot of different ways. I don’t know how much I can say, some of it is just going to be in ‘Avengers.'”

Kang and the Future of the MCU
As Loveness said, many of the things fans didn’t get to see inAnt-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, will be part ofAvengers: The Kang Dynasty, the movie that will reunite the group of heroes once again to defeat the terrible villain.
Kang the Conqueror first appeared in 1963 inFantastic Four #19, but it wasn’t until a year later inThe Avengers #8that he got his name, thanks to Stan Lee and Jack Kirby.
Its origins go back to the adventures of Nathaniel Richards, born on the Earth-6311 timeline, in the middle of the 30th century, being an ordinary scientist who discovered the way to travel in time. This discovery leads him to go back to Ancient Egypt and control En Sabah Nur, also known as the mutant Apocalypse. Defeated by the Avengers and The Fantastic Four, Richards is blinded by the prospect of traveling the multiverse and conquering all in his path.
While the MCU likely won’t use every element of Kang’s story in the comics, he does seem like the perfect villain for the franchise’s future, considering he’s managed to assemble the Avengers, The Fantastic Four, and even the X-Men to fight together, groups that will be essential in what comes for Marvel Studios.
