Jay and Silent Bob are bringing rudeness and lewdness back to the big screen for a third time, andKevin Smithhas revealed the title for the eagerly-anticipated threequel. The iconic weed-smoking duo, played by Jason Mewes and Smith respectively, first appeared in Smith’s debut feature,Clerks. The duo have since reemerged in most of Smith’s films, includingMallrats,Chasing Amy, andDogma. Not content with being sidelined, the pair also starred in two standalone movies,Jay and Silent Bob Strike BackandJay and Silent Bob Reboot.

Appearing at San Diego Comic Con, actor, writer, and director Smith revealed that a thirdJay and Silent Bob film is in the works. The new film has been given the official title,Jay and Silent Bob:Store Wars. Smith didn’t reveal too much about the movie, which is currently in early development. However, he did tease View Askew fans with a rough outline for the film. Most likely set in Smith’s hometown of New Jersey (like a lot of his films), the pair’s third outing will see the duo open their own weed dispensary. However, business becomes complicated when they face competition from a rival.

Jay and Silent Bob: Store Warswill be, like many of Smith’s movies, a love-letter to the IPs and franchises that he loves. The director has already revealed that, despite its stoner comedy style, the newJay and Silent Bobmovie will have a touch ofSam Raimi’sThe Evil Deadabout it.Smith has revealed that the film will feature a macguffin called the NecroBobicon, which can apparently leave the reader permanently silent if misused.

Kevin Smith Has Multiple Movies in the Works

Since breaking into the industry with his self-funded debut,Clerks,Smith has remained busy, directing, writing, producing, and starring in countless movies as well as hosting numerous podcasts, and moonlighting as a voice actor for animation and video games. Still keeping himself busy, Smith has several new movies in the works. Jay and Silent Bob aren’t the only iconic characters getting another sequel, as theMallratsare also believed to be returning. Little is known aboutTwilight of the Mallrats, but fans have been desperate for a second film since the first was released in 1995. However, following the death ofMallratsstar Shannen Doherty, it is unclear whether Smith will be moving ahead with this particular project.

A known lover of comic books, Smith has starred in several comic book based projects, includingThe Boys Presents: Diabolical. Having directed a few episodes of the hit CW seriesSupergirl, Smith is finally overseeing a superhero project of his own. Based on supporting characters from Todd McFarlane’s ‘Spawn’ comics,Sam and Twitchis a new series created by Smith which follows the titular homicide detectives as they try and solve gruesome, occult murders in New York City.

Smith has recently been locked in dispute with theMPA over his next film,The 4:30 Movie.While Smith has an excellent track record of appealing the MPA’s past ratings, this time the Motion Picture Association has stood strong in givingThe 4:30 Moviean R-rating. Smith is currently fighting to get this downgraded to PG-13.
