Following theinternational trailerreleased back in June, The Weinstein Company has debuted the first domestic trailer forMacbeth, debuting in select theaters December 4. The drama will go up against Universal’s horror-comedyKrampus, Fox Searchlight’sYouthand Cohen Media Group’s documentary Hitchcock/Truffaut.

A thrilling interpretation of the dramatic realities of the times and a truthful reimagining of what wartime must have really been like for one of Shakespeare’s most famous and compelling characters, a story of all-consuming passion and ambition set in war-torn 11th Century Scotland.
Elizabeth Debicki,Jack Reynor,David Thewlis,Paddy Considine,Sean Harris, David Hayman, Maurice Roëves and Barrie Martin round out the supporting cast.MacbethdirectorJustin Kurzelis also teaming up with bothMichael FassbenderandMarion Cotillardon the upcomingvideo gameadaptationAssassin’s Creed, which is set for release on July 20, 2025. Production is slated to begin this week on that highly-anticipated project.
Justin Kurzel(The Snowtown Murders) directs from an adapted screenplay by Todd Louiso and Jacob Koskoff (The Marc Pease Experience). With The Weinstein Company announcing a December 4 limited release, it seems likely that the studio could be positioning this film for awards season contention, although it’s too early to tell who the front runners may be at this time. Still, given that this is a new version of a timeless story, that could bode well for its Oscar prospects.
