When CBS announced itsfall scheduleback in May, it marked the return of a familiar name to network television. 31 years after it first hit the airwaves, a new version ofMacGyverwill debut on CBS September 23, kicking off the network’s hit Friday night lineup that also includes long-running showsHawaii Five-0andBlue Bloods. With just over one month left until the show debuts, CBS has released a new trailer, which gives us a better look atLucas Till’s title character, and the rest of his team.

MacGyver, a reimagining of the classic series, is an action-adventure drama about 20-something Angus “Mac” MacGyver (Lucas Till) who creates a clandestine organization within the U.S. government where he uses his extraordinary talent for unconventional problem solving and vast scientific knowledge to save lives. Joining his team on high-risk missions around the globe is maverick former CIA agent Lincoln (George Eads). Under the aegis of the Department of External Affairs, MacGyver takes on the responsibility of saving the world, armed to the teeth with resourcefulness and little more than bubble gum and a paper clip, as you’re able to see in this trailer that debuted on YouTube.

Along with MacGyver and Lincoln, thisnew traileralso reveals more footage ofSandrine Holtas Patricia Thornton,Justin Hiresas the title character’s best friend, Wilt Bozer andTristin Maysas Riley Davis, a brilliant computer hacker. It’s quite clear from this footage that this remake will not be skimping on the action, showcasing a number of fight scenes explosions, and, of course,MacGyver’s knack for saving the day with unconventional items. The show also had a much different look, though.

The original premise followedMacGyveras he was recruited into a secret organization by the U.S. Government, where he uses his unusual skills to solve problems in an unconventional way. The new premise features MacGyver actually creating this clandestine organization within the government.George Eadsis still playing a “maverick former CIA agent,” but his character’s name is now Jack Dalton, instead of Lincoln, who goes on these missions with MacGyver.
