Margot Robbie’s turn as the titular doll inGreta Gerwig’sBarbiehas arguably been one of her biggest roles in recent years, but the actress is now said to be sizing up a new acting gig that could be even bigger… literally. Robbie is reportedly in early talks to star in a giant role inTim Burton’s wild remake of the sci-fi cult classicAttack of the 50 Foot Womanfor Warner Bros. She would also co-produce the film under her LuckyChap production banner, but her involvement hinges on one critical factor, and it might turn out to be a tall order.

News broke last year that Burton was working on a reimagining of the 1958 sci-fi horror, which centers around a wealthy heiress who – following an encounter with an alien – grows to an enormous size and seeks revenge on her unfaithful husband. Burton was said to be directing the feature froma script penned byGone Girlwriter Gillian Flynn. However, Flynn has since departed the project due to other commitments. Finding a replacement scribe is quite critical, as Robbie’s involvement with the film apparently hinges on the final screenplay.

Margot Robbie as the stereotypical doll in Barbie

If Robbie approves of the script and officially signs on for theAttack of the 50 Foot Womanremake, she will reportedly be starring in the lead role as the sky-high heiress and producing the film with her LuckyChap partners Tom Ackerley and Josey McNamara, as part of the company’s multi-year first-look feature film deal with Warner Bros. following their collaboration on the Oscar-winningBarbie. Burton is also onboard as a producer alongside Andrew Mittman and Tommy Harper, while Kai Dolbashian will serve as executive producer.

Burton cast some doubt over the remake in November as he stated that he had"no real projects" in the worksat the time. He likely made these comments whenAttack of the 50 Foot Womanwas stalled, but the search for a new writer is still on and there appears to be renewed hope in it being taken to new heights, especially with Robbie now circling a potential deal.
