The report comes viaDeadline, whose sources claim that Warner Bros has nearly closed a deal for the film rights forAvengelyne, with the reported figure nearing seven-figures. Margot Robbie is the favorite to star in the film, which would run alongside her role as a producer on the project. Robbie’s studio, LuckyChap Entertainment, is producing the movie.

TheAvengelynemovie also has some amazing talentlined up behind the camera. Olivia Wilde, who has directed hit films likeBooksmart(as well as acting in numerous blockbusters) is set to direct the project. The script will also be penned by Tony McNamara, who scribed the Oscar nominated screenplay for Yorgos Lanthimos’Poor Things.

In 2013,The Hollywood Reporterconfirmed that MMA Champion andThe Mandalorianactress, Gina Carano, was in the running for the titular role. Carano’s involvement even went so far as appearing at Comic-Con with Rob Liefeld to sign pictures of herself asAvengelyne.

Rob Liefeld recently spoke toVarietyabout the upcoming film, mentioning the laborious process of finally bringing his character to the big screen, and expressing his excitement about working with Olivia Wilde and Margot Robbie.

Next thing I’m meeting with Margot Robbie and Olivia Wilde and the connection was electric!
