The actress has signed an exclusive first-look producing deal with Warner Bros., setting up this Harley Quinn project and an adaptation ofDean N. Jensen’sQueen of the Airat the studio, both of which she’s set to star in. The actress/producer will be developing projects through her LuckyChap production company that will be housed at Warner Bros.

The Hollywood Reporterdoesn’t have any additional details about the Harley Quinn spin-off, but with this producing deal in place, it’s most certainly moving forward. Our initial report revealed that the movie will featureHarley Quinnand a number of DC female heroes such as Batgirl and the Birds of Prey. The project doesn’t have a director on board quite yet, and no production schedule has been announced, but that could change soon.Margot Robbiewill be producing and developing projects alongside her LuckyChap partnersTom Ackerley,Josey McNamaraandSophia Kerr.

After landing the Harley Quinn role inSuicide Squad,Margot Robbiestarted immersing herself in comic book research for the role, and became interested in these other characters. The actress brought on an unidentified writer to start developing this project. Warner Bros.' quickly acquired this project after the actress-producer brought it to the studio. This Harley Quinn project is the first of two projects she has set up with Warner Bros. as of now, but the other doesn’t involve comic book heroes.

The second project is an adaptation ofDean N. Jensen’s novelQueen of the Air, which tells the tragic tale ofRingling Brotherstrapeze artistsLillian LeitzelandAlfredo Codona, two of the biggest stars of the early 20th Century, who were also romantically involved. There have been rumors aboutSuicide Squad 2being put into development alongside theHarley Quinnproject.
