When it comes to some long-running franchises, there is often a question of whether they should be watched in the order of their release or in chronological order. TheStar Warsfranchise is one such conundrum, as George Lucas made a decision to release the middle trilogy of his story first, followed by his prequels, and then other directors stepped in to produce the sequel trilogy. If you want to know what order to watch them in, you probably shouldn’t ask franchise legendMark Hamill.
How Star Wars Cost Mark Hamill the Lead Role in One of the Biggest Biopics Ever Made
Playing Luke Skywalker in the Star Wars franchise was both a blessing and a curse for Mark Hamill. Because of the role, he missed out on a biopic.
Hamill is currently starring in the new Stephen King movie,The Life of Chuck, and in support of the release, he dropped in onThe View. During his interview, he was asked about how he believes audiences should watch theStar Warsfranchise, to which he hilariously replied:

“Well, lucky for you, I don’t care. You should do what you want. But what you really should do is see The Life of Chuck.”
Mark Hamill Recently Shared an Update on His Possible ‘Star Wars’ Return
Fans have, and will always, associate Hamill with theStar Warsfranchise, but recently the actor suggested that the chances of him making any new appearances in any of the upcoming Lucasfilm projects are slim. While fans were surprised to see him make an appearance inThe MandalorianSeason 2 as a de-aged Luke Skywalker, subsequent appearances of the character were done using a double and CGI-fakery. Hamill said recently:
“I am so grateful to George [Lucas] for letting me be a part of that back in the day, the humble days when George called Star Wars ‘the most expensive low-budget movie ever made.’ We never expected it to become a permanent franchise and a part of pop culture like that. But my deal is, I had my time. I’m appreciative of that, but I really think they should focus on the future and all the new characters.

“And by the way, when I disappeared in [The Last Jedi], I left my robes behind. And there’s no way I’m gonna appear as a naked Force ghost.”
However, despite seemingly ruling himself out of any further appearances - at least for now - that does not mean Hamill is planning on taking things easy. He is currently starring in the new Stephen King movie,The Life of Chuck, which reteams him with The Fall of the House of Usher director Mike Flanagan, and will also star in the adaptation of the King’s dystopian novelThe Long Walk. He has recently also provided voice roles for the animated comic book series,Invincible, and the hit movie,The Wild Robot.
