There’s a new threat looming over the planet, and only one team can stop the complete destruction of humanity. They’re back, and this time they are going worldwide. MeetMen in Black: International. Sony has released the first trailer and poster from the next chapter in this popular franchise.
The Men in Black have always protected the Earth from the scum of the universe. In this new adventure, they tackle their biggest, most global threat to date: a mole in the Men in Black organization. The universe is expanding this summer. With a cast that includesChris Hemsworthand Tessa Thompson.

Along with Chris Hemsworth andTessa Thompson, the rest of this global cast includes Rebecca Ferguson, Kumail Nanjiani, Rafe Spall, Laurent Bourgeois, Larry Bourgeois with Emma Thompson and Liam Neeson. F. Gary Gray directs this spin-off, which is still connected to the world of Men in Black, which we’ve come to know through three previous movies and an animated TV show.Agent J and Agent K, and their past adventures, are all still part of the official big screen canon. Though it doesn’t appear that Will Smith and Tommy Lee Jones will be making cameos, and if they do, it will come as a huge surprise for the audience.
F. Gary Gray is attempting to carry this franchise into the futurewith a soft reboot that includes a whole new cast. It’s possible that Will Smith and Tommy Lee Jones could be brought in to help with future sequels. Going worldwide also opens up this universe to expand on the mythology with Agents from all over, just in case Chris Hemsworth and Tessa Thompson get tired of wearing the black suits to work. It’s interesting to note that Sony is doing the exact same thing with theirCharlie’s Angelsfranchise.
Sony has also recruited a new team of secret agents forCharlie’s Angelswith three different Bosleys orchestrating these teams around the world.Men in Black: Internationalwas originally going to be a crossover with21 Jump Streetfor its fourth movie. The actors couldn’t be coordinated, and the logistics became impossible. Looking at how Sony is resurrectingMen in BlackandCharlie’s Angels, is it possible that the studio is going to do a massive crossover between the two properties somewhere down the road? That can’t be put past them. And it would probably be pretty amazing. Though, bringing an alien threat intoCharlie’s Angelsmight be jumping the shark, or nuking the fridge, or however you want to call it out.
Men in Black: Internationalis coming fromIron Manwriters Art Marcum and Matt Holloway, who definitely know how to craft an origin story for characters and titles that have been kicking around in the public consciousness for ages, giving everything a new flavor and kick. The cast appears to be having a lot of fun here.Men in Blackfirst arrived in theaters way back in 1997, more than twenty years ago. The movies were based on the Aircel Comic Books of the same name, and continues to be one of the most successful non-superhero comic adaptation ever made. Check out the official trailer from Sony Pictures Entertainment.
