Michael Connellyhas been one of the biggest names in modern crime fiction for 30 years, and the creator of one of the most popular detective shows of the last decade – Bosch. WithBosch: Legacynow at an end, fans of Harry “Hieronymus” Bosch are looking to spinoff series Ballard for their fix ofTitus Welliver’s former police detective. While recently speaking toMovieWeb’s George Edelman, Connelly revealed how many episodes fans can expect to see Bosch appear in and teased a continued presence of the character in the future.

BoschandBosch: Legacyadapted many of the storylines that Connelly has written featuring the character since his debut in 1992’s “The Black Echo,” but there are still many more Bosch stories to tell, including some that could form part ofMaggie Q’sBallardseriessince several of Connelly’s novels have paired the two together. Reflecting on the legacy of Bosch and Welliver’s iteration of the character, Connelly said:

Titus Welliver in ‘Bosch’

“We’ve had an amazing run. Like, who would have thought that we would get 10 seasons, 98 episodes. On the course of that, I think [Titus] can’t help but take the character. He’s the owner of the character. I still write books about Bosch, but he’s Harry, and he has all the nuances. And when we would film, he just knew what Harry would do. I mean he was a real partner in terms of the scripts and everything else. It’s pretty amazing.”

‘Bosch: Legacy’ is ending with Season 3, but the show’s star doesn’t believe this is the end for his time as Harry Bosch.

How Much Does Harry Bosch Appear in ‘Ballard’?

Following the recent trailers forthe Boschspinoff,Ballard, it has been clear that Welliver’s former detective will be dropping in on Rene Ballard on several occasions in the first season of her show. Connelly said of how much Bosch will figure in the series, and potential future projects:

“He’s going to be in Ballard on occasion, I think he’s in four episodes of the first season, and hopefully he’ll be back in future season. I hope that our time working together is not over, whether it’s more Bosch or something else. He was involved in a dramatic podcast I did last year with a completely different character, and there’s some noise about developing that as a TV show. That would be fun because he actually plays a writer, so maybe he can not only be Bosch, but he can also be me, just like the merging continues.”

For anyone who has read Michael Connelly’s novels, there should be no doubt thatBallardwill deliver the same kind of tightly-woven storylines thatBoschbecame known for, and withWelliver’s Harry Bosch set to make quite a few appearances, it is probably going to seem like his own series has not so much ended as evolved.

Ballardwill be released on Prime Video on July 9, which gives fans a little time to revisit some of Bosch’s best cases inBoschandBosch: Legacy, which are both available to stream on Prime Video now.
