You may know by now thatE.L. James’Fifty Shades of Greyoriginally started off as fan-fiction before it became a publishing juggernaut, leading to the blockbuster movie adaptation. Paramount is trying to mine the same fertile ground by developingAnna Todd’sAfter, which was originally a piece ofOne Directionfan-fiction. Also likeFifty Shades of Grey, the story follows an innocent student who gets caught up in a whirlwind romance with an “emotionally unavailable bad boy named Hardin,” who is loosely inspired byOne Direction’sHarry Styles.
