What Made ‘Queer Eye’ Different From Most Reality Shows?

Unlike other reality TV series likeThe Real Housewives,Vanderpump Rules, orJersey Shore(there’s a blast from the past),Queer Eyeseparated itself from others by being a positive and uplifting show that opted to celebrate wins rather than glorify losses. It took the time to highlight the differences between us all, and was just as emotional as it was hilarious.

Then there’s the cast. What can we say about the Fab Five that hasn’t already been said? They’re absolutely the best reality TV “hosts” that ever existed. Their dynamic helped makeQueer Eyethe hit it became, with Van Ness giving some of the best reactions to things we’ve ever seen. Their chemistry is unmatched, and though they don’t always agree with one another (both on and off camera), it’s their willingness to be vulnerable and open that helps draw viewers to them and makes them relatable. They don’t feel like they’re always putting on a show like the Kardashians. The Fab Five have always been their authentic selves, and that’s all we could ever ask of them.

As the old saying goes, though, all good things must come to an end. This isn’t the first time viewers have had to say goodbye toQueer Eye, but, sadly, it will probably be the last. Enjoy the 10th and final season as much as you’re able to when it eventually hits Netflix, but in the meantime, the first nine seasons are still available to stream. Sadly, the original Bravo series that featured Ted Allen, Kyan Douglas, Thom Filicia, Carson Kressley, and Jai Rodriguez is unavailable on any streaming platform right now, but certain seasons are available to purchase on Prime Video.
