We’ve returned to Nevermore Academy once again with the Season 2 premiere of theNetflixoriginal seriesWednesday. After shamelessly binge-watching all four episodes, let’s just say audiences are in for a treacherous ride. Part 1 of the second season reunites viewers with Wednesday Addams (Jenna Ortega) and the rest of her dysfunctional family, the Addams, as she prepares to attend the school for societal outcasts for a second year. This season raises the stakes with a stalker, a best friend’s life in peril, Wednesday struggling to control her psychic abilities, and confronting the sinister dealings at Willow Hill, a local psychiatric hospital. It’s one dangerous adventure after another. However, Netflix may have dropped the ball on that cliffhanger of a finale.
As viewers progress through the first half of Season 2, Wednesday uncovers her stalker’s identity, saves Enid Sinclair’s (Emma Myers) life, confronts Tyler Galpin (Hunter Doohan), also known as the Hyde, and discovers a secret bunker called LOIS within the psychiatric facility. The bunker is revealed to have been used for experimental procedures on outcasts. The showdown between Wednesday and Tyler ends disastrously for her, as he throws her out of a window, leaving her presumed dead. Talk about a jaw-dropping ending. Is Wednesday Addams dead? Well, a sneak peek of Part 2 of the season answers that question, as it quickly debunks the finale. Here’s everything to know about the finale that sets upWednesdaySeason 2, Part 2.

What Just Happened in ‘Wednesday’ Season 2, Part 1?
By the time viewers reach Episode 4, titled “If These Woes Could Talk,” theexpected chaos that follows Wednesday Addams(Ortega) is unleashed. Agnes DeMille (Evie Templeton), a fellow student at Nevermore, is revealed to be Wednesday’s stalker. Aside from possessing invisibility powers and a neurotic need to prove her worth to Wednesday, Agnes’ threats are minor compared to the more macabre plot haunting the narrative.
There’s still an Avian killer on the loose, and Wednesday is determined to solve this mystery to prevent her visions of Enid’s death from coming true. Her investigation ultimately leads her to connect the murderer with Willow Hill. This psychiatric hospital houses outcasts who are undergoing horrific experimental treatment, and is where Tyler Galpin (Doohan) and Ms. Thornhill (Christina Ricci) were sent at the end ofWednesdaySeason 1.

The little storm cloud enlists the help ofher mischievous Uncle Fester(Fred Armisen) by having him commit himself to the psychiatric institute to access a patient who may have the answers to her questions.Working together, Wednesday and Fester discover that the patient is actually part of a terrible experiment conducted in the secret bunker, LOIS, which houses outcasts presumed dead but exploited for experimentation. The duo frees the outcasts, but this also leads to Tyler’s escape after he kills Ms. Thornhill (Ricci) for manipulating him. Now fully transformed and vengeful, Tyler is determined to settle the score with Wednesday.
After his release, Tyler fully succumbs to the Hyde and, as a fully formed monster, is adamant about finding Wednesday and settling the score. A life and death confrontation ensues between the Hyde and Wednesday, which ends with Tyler pushing Wednesday out of a Willow Hill window. The next scene showsWednesday landing on the pavement, covered in blood, while unconscious. Police arrive on site and, without sufficient power to subdue him, Tyler runs off into the night. Viewers are left with Wednesday’s voiceover, where she says, “I’ve always dreamed of looking death in the face. But in my final moments, all I hear is my mother’s words ringing in my ears. Maybe I have made things worse. Much worse.”

At this point, Wednesday’s death seemed like a possibility. It wouldn’t be the first time aseries has killed off its main characterfor dramatic effect. However, given the series’ supernatural elements and her family’s powers, Wednesday’s resurrection or recovery always seemed likely. This chaotic mid-season finale echoes the mayhem of Wednesday’s final clash with Ms. Thornhill in Season 1. In the Season 1 finale, Ms. Thornhill fatally stabbed Wednesday. However, it was the sacrifice of Wednesday’s spirit guide, Goody, that saved her life. This time around, there was no spirit guide to help Wednesday, but her fate was already somewhat revealed by Netflix.
‘Wednesday’ Will Wake From Her Coma in Season 2, Part 2
While several factors remain uncertain, viewers can expect ominous mayhem in the following episodes. We’ll most likely see the Addams family distraughtover Wednesday’s predicament. As for Wednesday, taking into account her injuries and the sneak peek of Part 2 that plays following the finale, we’ll see her in a coma, and, eventually, she will wake up. There are still too many loose ends for Wednesday to give up the fight. With Tyler on the loose and Enid’s life still in danger, there are plenty of reasons for Wednesday to want to stay with the living.
Her near-death experience may also provide a deeper connection to her psychic abilities, especially since she acknowledged that she should’ve heeded her mother’s warning about using her power carelessly. This was a clever decision by the showrunners to intensify Wednesday’s challenges while allowing her character to grow without losing the essential traits that define her. There are more thrilling things to come, and certainly more dysfunctional characters adding to the chaotic narrative this season. It may seem like an eternity until Part 2, and let’s face it,Wednesday Addams would approveof this torturous wait.Part 1 ofWednesdaySeason 2 is available to watch now onNetflix. Part 2 is scheduled to be released on Sept. 3, 2025.
