For a long while now, everyone has suspected that Disney and Lucasfilm will makeIndiana Jones 5. Though, it hasn’t ever been officially announced. And while it is rumored thatChris Prattwill take over forHarrison Ford, no one has ever confirmed that at either Disney or Lucasfilm. As part of the massiveStar Wars: The Force Awakensspread inVanity Fairthis month, Lucasfilm PresidentKathleen Kennedydid confirm that a movie is happening at Disney. Though, she has no idea when it may move forward. Nor does she even begin to hint that someone else is replacingHarrison Fordat this juncture. She says:
“[A New Indiana Jones] will one day be made inside this company. When it will happen, I’m not quite sure. We haven’t started working on a script yet, but we are talking about it.”

Disney and Paramount brokered a financial deal for future films way back in 2012, when we first heard that Indiana Jones 5 could possibly be moving forward. Though, this is the first timeKathleen Kennedyhas officially announced that a new movie is for sure happening. The LucasFilm president goes onto confirm that Disney got the rights for all LucasFilm properties, for better or worse, includingWillowand Radioland Murders. Does that mean remakes or reboots, or possibly even sequels to those movies are in the works? We have no idea.
Last year, Disney Chairman Alan Horn had similar comments about Indiana Jones 5. He seemed to believe that a new movie was coming, but relaid the following information:

“We haven’t done anything. We don’t have a story. We need a story.”
It has long been the belief that LucasFilm and Disney are working hard to launch a newStar Warsfranchise with a sequel trilogy and Anthology spinoffs before even thinking about moving forward onIndiana Jones. The first priority is to get the right script with a stand-out story that will please old and new fans alike.
