Lifetime has been pulling in big ratings with itsUnauthorizedseries of movie biopics that look back at some of ourTV favoritesfrom the 80s and 90s. Though, just how authentic they truly are is, and will remain, under scrutiny. The next movie in the series isThe Unauthorized Full House Story, and at least one scene rings true. StarJohn Stamosadmits that he almost got TheOlsen Twinsfired. Thebackstageevent is depicted in the first clip from The Unauthorized Full House Story.

John Stamosis currently promoting his new Fox comedyGrandfathered.TVLinecaught up with the star at the the Television Critics Association summer press tour in Beverly Hills, where he confirmed that at least this one aspect of the Lifetime movie is authentic. During the first season of the ABC sitcom, he admits that there was some initial friction between him and the infantsMary-Kate OlsenandAshley Olsen.John Stamosstated the following.

“The Olsen twins cried a lot. It was very difficult to get the shot. So that actually is 100 percent accurate. I said, ‘Get those kids…’ [gestures to get rid of them] and they brought in a couple of unattractive red-headed kids. We tried that for a while and that didn’t work. ‘Alright, get the Olsen twins back.’ That’s the story.”

The first clip from The Unauthorized Full House Story, which airs August 22 on Lifetime, is entertaining on a number of different levels. Not only does it depictJohn Stamostrying to get his two soon-to-be-very-famous co-stars fired from set, it also showsBob Sagetas the raunchy comedian he was known for when not portraying Danny Tanner. It promises that this movie is going to bring some big cheesy fun, and will probably be another ratings winner for Lifetime.

In the scene,John Stamosis understandably upset about the wayMary-Kate(or is itAshley) is behaving on set. He wants more professional actors. Not untrained babies. Dave Coulier is pretending to sleepwalk in the scene, but springs to life when he smells that one of the Olsen twins has filled up her diaper. The baby is whisked off set as the producer promises he’ll ‘get right on’ finding toddler veterans for the show.

Bob Saget’s dirty reputation comes to light soon thereafter, as he asks for a stripper pole in the middle of the set, suggesting that they should hire a bunch of strippers instead of another set of toddler twins. He says this right in front of a very young Jodie Sweetin who asks, ‘What are strippers?’ AndSagetquips, ‘Hopefully a career path that you will never have to follow.’

The cast of The Unauthorized Full House Story includes Garrett Brawith as Saget, Justin Mader as Dave Coulier, Justin Gaston as Stamos and Stephanie Bennett as Lori Loughlin. Renewed interest in the show couldn’t come at better time, asNetflixhas already begun shooting the first of 13-episodes for a new reunion series titledFuller House. The show is bringing back all of the original cast members, except for Mary-Kate Olsen and Ashley Olsen, who are still teetering on a deal to return. The new story revolves around DJ Tanner moving in with her sister and best friend, along with all of their kids. Perhaps there will be an Unauthorized Full House Story sequel sometime in the future. Until that happens, take a look at this first clip and don’t for get to set your DVRs for August 22.
