The best pilot in a galaxy far, far away might be making a triumphant comeback, as a new rumor suggests thatOscar Isaac’s Poe Dameron will return to theStar Warsuniverse. The Emmy-nominated actor first portrayed Poe inStar Wars:Episode 7 - The Force Awakens, alongside Daisy Ridley’s Rey and John Boyega’s Finn. Poe is considered to be one of the best pilots in the entire Rebellion, and quickly became a trusted ally to Rey and Finn in their mission to defeat the First Order.
Many fans assumed that Poe’s time in theStar Warsuniverse came to an end after the incredibly divisiveEpisode 9 - The Rise of Skywalker, which brought the sequel trilogy to a close. But Poe’s time in the sky might not be over yet. Per the officialStar Wars Celebration Instagramaccount, Oscar Isaac is set to appear at this year’s event, which is being held in Tokyo in April. The post didn’t confirm anything other than Isaac’s attendance at the event, butStar Warsfans have gained a new hope (see what we did there?) that Oscar Isaac might make aStar Warscomeback in a future project.

There are several upcoming movies in which Poe Dameron could appear. The most obvious would be thelong-delayed Rey Skywalker film,New Jedi Order, which will see Daisy Ridley return as the titular heroine. Considering their close bond in the sequel trilogy, this option makes the most sense. There is also the chance that Poe could appear in the brand-new trilogy, which is being helmed byX-Menproducer Simon Kinberg. However, as plot details for the new trilogy haven’t been revealed, we have no clue if there will be a significant time jump. That trilogy could also go the way of previous plans that didn’t come together – remember when Rian Johnson was working on a new trilogy?
Could Oscar Isaac Return to ‘Star Wars’?
As much as fans want to see Poe Dameron enter the cockpit of his signature X-Wing again on the big screen, it all comes down to one thing: does Oscar Isaac actually want to return? With the sequel trilogy officially over, the actor is under no contractual obligation to return to Disney’s franchise. In fact, back in 2020, he made it clearhe was done withStar Wars.Oscar Isaac said he would only return if he needed “another house or something.”
Everything We Know About Ryan Gosling’s ‘Star Wars’ Movie
Ryan Gosling is set to star in a Shawn Levy-helmed ‘Star Wars’ film, and here’s everything we know about it!
Thankfully, he changed his mind (slightly) two years later, in 2022. During an interview withVariety, Oscar Isaac revealed he had “no real feeling one way or another” about appearing in anotherStar Warsfilm. While that sounds like another rejection, he confirmed that mindset left him “open to anything.” His apathy towards the franchise likely extends from Disney shooting down his idea to include a romance plot between Poe and Finn, something which many fans were also calling for after the characters shared obvious chemistry inThe Force Awakens. Poe Dameron’s return hasn’t been confirmed by Disney or Lucasfilm.
